GT3 v R8

I have a copy of the Clarkson Supercar Showdown if anyone would like to see it.
It features Stig racing Sabiene (sp?) from the ring, Stig GT3 v Sabiene R8 and Clarkson putting a car, i won't say which, in to the tyre wall.
A Top Gear special really, but enjoyable all the same.
It is a 700Mb avi file.
If anyone is interested email me (jpbush@mac.com) and i'll email you the link or ftp it to you.

Great video, thanks for posting, but it did look very much like JC crashed the car on purpose just to prove a point, shame he is so anti-Pork, but I suppose being controversial has helped bring in the millions[;)]!

There's something very Hommer Simpsonish about JC when he's kissing the Stig!!
Eat humble pie Jeremy!!

So the GT3 is the winner but the C2 loses against it...
I still think its natural competition is the GT3 or the Turbo.
Having looked at Two R8's which had price stickers of £97K and £99K.. .not really C2 money is it ??

One of the early Autocartype weekly magazine reviews put the C2s with powerkit ahead of the R8 on points as a drivers car - handling, preformance, enjoyment etc Both had vritually identical 0 -x times and in gear (the C"s had a few tenths in its favour) So I guess its pays your money takes your choice

I'd like to give it a year or two to see if familiarity and a risk of ageing looks rebalances to the reporters views

I agree the R8 is a welcome addition to any petrolheads arsenel, after seeing quite a few oft hem at and in the MPH show in Birmingham they do certainly look the part [:)]

Only time will tell, I just think the figures have been slighly mis-aligned..

Saw three on the road at the weekend, and boy it looks wide. A quick look at the specs and it's virtually the same width as the Cayenne! I've always felt one of the great advantages about the C2 is that it has a reasonably narrow body, and that makes it easy to drive on normal roads.

The R8 may not be C2S/C4S money but in terms of performance they are pretty neck and neck. The GT3 didn't have too much trouble by the looks of things from that video. The stig took it on the outside. You can't put all that performance advantage down to 100kg's weight difference. The GT3 clearly had the legs over the R8. Seems to me the R8 is C2s/C4s performance for GT3 money!

R8 owner turned up at PC Bristol last Friday and said with just 500 miles on the clock he was selling it back to Listers Stratford after 2 months ownership! Next purchase is to be another (!)V10 Carrera with the balance of the warranty - as you probably read the flagship car is not supported after 2yrs!
Felt that the R8 is very well put together and an excellent first effort but the driving characteristics of his previous C2S appealed more!
Hmm...
