GT4 - Colours and Spec ...

Gentlemen,

Currently struggling with spec but down to 3 choices ... I currently have a beautiful 997 GTS in Carrara White, black Spyder wheels with extended Alcantara seats and Cabin, Carrara white seat backs and central tunnel with Aero Kit - and think it looks fantastic and my perfect spec if i had bought it new which i didn't ... "Result" :)

But have always wanted a Red car to polish as i am into Detailing ... So have a Dilemma ... !!!

Colour: Guards Red, Carmine Red and Carrara White
Wheels: Black wheels with Carrera White Car - Normal for Red car's
Brakes: PCCB or Steel - "see other thread"
Seats: Normal Sports seats with Red stitching throughout cabin (CBS Deleted at Present)
Carbon Fibre Inlays & Internals
Red seat belts
Sports Chrono & PCM
Plus Phone, cruise, Front Lights etc ...

£70k or £75k ...???

Your thoughts ...

Andrew,

If you're into detailing (I'm not myself) then I think that you have to go red rather than white and I think the Cayman looks good in that colour with the standard wheels (I think you lose the wheel detail with black wheels).

Not really into all the other interior fancy stuff myself but I'd definitely go for the dynamic lights (I have PDLS on my 987.2 Cayman and they're excellent), cruise control, auto dimming mirrors, auto climate control and the sound package plus (very annoying that DAB radio isn't included in this). Don't forget to spec the bigger 64-litre fuel tank, the smoking package and passenger footwell storage net (all free). I wouldn't bother with the PCCBs, SC or PCM (buy a TomTom!!) myself, but that's just a person thing.

Only my tuppence worth of course.

Jeff

Spec is very personal, you just have to buy what you want, from £65k to some peoples £85k cars.

Carmine will look amazing on it imo. white less so and I like white but it looks a bit bland with no stickers.

Thanks Guys ... This car looks perfect driven at Portugal for EVO - i think its the Carmine but not sure .... Normal brakes and Red Stitching and Seat belt ;)

Track or Concours, maybe both?

A look back through the National concours will show Guards Red cars come out on top![;)]

Thanks Jd - Great Advice, as i love keeping my cars Mint ... The Guards Red is also a saving of £1500 so could then look to PCCB which would look great IMO with the Red Hue ... :)

Ok - Here we go ...

Guards Red

CFB Seats

Club Sport Pack

Sports Chrono

Red Stitching throughout

Carbon Fibre Inside

£74k ....

So Excited ... Hardcore Spec!

Interesting - The club Sport Spec is actually 8Kg heavier than the 18 Way sports seats in Total ... What a waste of time and money - think will leave out the Club Sport Cage and save £2.5k ... ?!!! Also saving 33Kg on the Seats ... ;)

Ok - Locked in Spec today ... Gone for Standard Brakes in the End - After test drive in 991 GT3 ... Added more Interior stuff than i thought but its a Potential Keeper so wanted it 100% ... Had a sit in a GT3 RS and just love the Carbon Fibre Bucket seats and Race Harness so went for Guards Red with Club Sport spec, the Black Roll Cage will look great with the Red Belts and Guards Red colour scheme IMO ;)

Jeff ...

Delivery in February/March to be on 2016 Reg .. ;)

I was told my spec may take longer, hence the 3 Month wait - but at least its locked in so even if they put a stop on Buckets and Club Sport i will be fine - Phew. I am happy with delivery date as won't drive it anyway til April time ... then take off road in October and save on initial Road Tax Duty ;)

Andrew

so does that actually happen ie part of £860 and not part of standard RFL?

imo you will only receive a monthly share of standard RFL

Good question ... and to be honest not sure! But i would say that they have to refund if the car is not on the road and the new digital monthly way of claiming back works better than the old 6 Month scenario, so hopefully they will refund from the £860 sum???!!!

Not sure on that ..I think you will only get it on the RFL check with the DVLA on that .If you get it on the full amount you are win win

Just editing my whole contribution as my curiosity got the better of me and I phoned the DVLA! Of the £870 first year RFL you would get back pro rata of the annual rate, i.e if you took it off the road for 6 months you would get £245 back. The additional £380 of first year RFL is gone to gov.org whether it is on the road for one day or a whole year and is non refundable.
