GT4 - GTS Targa - GT3

I hope the following explains the title.
I have been running a GT4 for the last 2 years ( 22 months ) as well as various different 911's at the same time, in mid May this year I took delivery of my new Agate grey 991.2 GTS 4 Targa and I have to say this car is superb, the power of it the retro roof and how it works, the grip, just everything about it especially getting back to the PDK. Now this is where the problem came, I just didn't enjoy the GT4 with the manual gearbox anymore, which to be fair, I was disappointed when it was announced manual only and in fact I nearly cancelled my order for it, but I wanted this new Cayman GT car, saying that I have enjoyed it and it did feel more engaging at times.
But it had to go, but what to replace it with to compliment the Targa ?, I couldn't get a new GT3 so I tried a Jaguar F type SVR, and whilst it was a lovely car with great noise there was something not there for that special fun day out and although I only do a couple of track days I just didn't think it was the one for me.
Following the F type trial I drive a 991.1 GT3, well my mind was made up in less than 5 miles around a few country lanes, what surprised me was that I purchased a car and paid over list for it, plus it had bucket seats and a cage but it feels like a complete package feeling sharp and alive.
A couple of pictures of the GT3, one of my Targa and one of something that I saw and thought , yes I'll have that, (must be something about my age)

Very nice Steve, you are a lucky boy that's for sure having 2x 991's!
I love the GT3 in Red, it looks awesome.
The bike is not too shabby either, I've had a 1980 Bultaco 250 Sherpa T since I was 15 and I have just had it rebuilt and pimped including some exhaust and engine tweaks, haven't got it back just yet but hoping to pick it up in the next few weeks.

The bikes a 1962 C15 with a 280, funny thing I've been looking at Bultaco's for years but saw this one but I fancy another one, for the money they are a good buy and should only go up in value.

How far is your GTS away ?, they are fantastic cars.

The Bultaco's are very popular and there are some nice ones about, but this one is such a special bike to me and I am so looking forward to riding it again, but only dry trials! I've got a Beta 300 SS for the usual British weather :)

I'm hoping the GTS will be this week Thursday or Saturday, but I'm not sure the dealer has the car yet as it is going to Reading first.
Very soon though.

Nice cars.

Although Porsche do a pretty good job, there's probably no model that fits the bill for every occasion. And, I say that having had, for many years, a 911 as my only car, getting a new one every three years - SC, 3.2, 964, 993, 996, 997, 991.... These days, though, I do have more than one, to suit specific needs and uses.

But, my garage wouldn't be complete without an 'aircooled' 911 - still have one. Love the GTs, and had several. I found the GT4 to be really nice - lovely balance between feeling very special and very usable - well suited to UK roads.

I guess the latest PDK systems are very proficient for regular use, we have it on a couple of Porsches, but I still prefer the direct engagement of a manual gearbox, even in London.

Agree about the GT3. If I had to live with just one Porsche again, it would be the new GT3 - manual gearbox, 'touring spec' with no wing, and subtle colour.

That just looks fabulous Steve, quite a machine, and having the delete option on the rear numberplate is a good idea too.

if only !!, I won't tell you why it isn't on, only that it's todo with holes !!
Looks really good Steve, but looking at your photo I think I can see what your "holy" problem is:rolleyes:

Carpi looks good and solid. Keeping it factory spec or room for a decent LSD? (From experience, highly recommended!)

It is solid now, the car will be as delivered from the factory, except I've added mono leaf springs, the car is a 1985 special which I believe came with LSD as standard.
Never driven it, has I bought it partly stripped but nearly all there, hoping it will be worth the cost when complete.
Engine is being rebuilt at the moment and seats are away being re trimmed, it's coming together slowly.

Yeah, the '85 2.8i Special should have an LSD (Quaife unit if I remember correctly). Special's were "normally" specified with the Ford Sport Exhaust (vertical ovals) and the 15" seven spoke RS alloys rather that the steel Rostyle's it's sitting on now, however originals of both of these are hard to come by I think.

I have a soft spot for the Capri 2.8iS as I restored one a few years ago, and although a bit of a sod to drive, it's a very charismatic car and always made me smile. I also prefer the "mark 3" (although strictly the mark 2 with a facelift) to the older models. Looking forward to seeing it finished!

Edit. Just remembered something. I restored mine to factory spec, however I left the standard (abysmal) fuel pump in place 'for the judges', but hid a performance fuel pump (Facet) to feed the K-jetronic system as the Ford/Bosch pump was woefully inadequate and starved the injectors at full throttle.

Thanks for the info, I have the original wheels, the Rostyle's are just on while the body was being done. I eventually ended up with ten wheels, as we couldn't find all the originals so I bought another set of Ebay, then we found the rest.
