Just wondering if there are any recommendations for insurers? I don't intend to track the car, just had a quote from Admiral on my multicar policy without tracker activated £330, with tracker £295. Tempted to go without tracker given all of the faff with the vodafone keys.

If you’re just looking for “Marmite” insurance Jase I’m sure that there’s little difference between the various insurers. Just make sure that you understand exactly what you’re getting in terms of choice of repairer, the use of genuine Porsche parts, etc., and unlike the specialists, most insurers aren’t interested in accepting an approved valuation. The devil’s always in the detail!

Thanks Jeff, that was my main concern i.e approved repairers. Not too bothered about agreed value as I will have GAP insurance on the car for 4 years if I keep it that long.

Thanks

Jase,

Unless the policy states specifically to the contrary I believe that you can choose your own repairer even if the insurer tries to steer you to their approved repairer. The downside might be that you lose some benefits like a courtesy car, etc.

I’m with Admiral. As long as you tell them everything about your car you should be ok. I rang them up and went through every option inside and out. They just put I had a modified interior as I’d added quite a few interior options. I did try the ‘specialist’ insurers that are sponsors of PCGB and let’s just say they were 3-4 times more expensive.

Dan

Thanks Dan, yes we went with modified interior as well. Had my GTS with them but of course you don't know what they are like until you have to use them. Contacted Locktons Friday morning and still haven't received a call back.

I'm unfortunately with Aviva and they have told me they will invalidate my cover if I put PPF on the car (checked three times via phone and email). Couldn't believe it. Will be dropping them come renewal time!
