GT4 last build / registration dates

I think the last ones built were in late July/early August before the factory close down over summer. The last registrations would therefore probably be in September and on a '66 plate here in the UK.

I would have thought the VIN number would be a useful guide to the final build sequence of the GT4s.

For example, mine is WPO-----190713.

David's correct on last builds and UK registrations.

Porsche ended Cayman production at Osnabrück over the summer; all sportscars are now built in Stuttgart.

According to How Many Left, at the end of Q3 2016 (September), 539 were licensed with 29 on SORN. The Q4 figures will be out soon.

Jeff

Figures are out via DVLAs website. There were 595 GT4s registered in the UK.

More than there were Cayman GTSs (545)...

As regarding vin numbers there appears to appear to be a number of sequences ie ..... 190 others from memory 189, 191,195,197 . This is worldwide inc USA they also run for 999 numbers and in the UK which includes rest of world I have seen 2 sets of numbers ie 1998 cars for ROW.

The numbers from 3rd quarter DVLA are most likely final numbers for UK.

You memorise VINs?[;)] And I thought trainspotting was odd.....

Purely from memory after looking on opc sites around the world to try and work out numbers of gt4 after I noticed a difference in vins in the UK

Also different sets of VINS for 981 spyder !

Vins are normally different due to model type, gearbox or ROW vs North America

Hi I have a 2006 Cayman S its done now 84000 miles I had it last week Terra cleaned now im thinking of next year having it remapped has any one had there car done and has it improved it at all any advice will be helpful Mark

Hi Mark,

Can I suggest that you'll receive a better response if you post a new thread on the Cayman forum rather than piggyback this unrelated thread.

But to answer your question, I doubt that you'll gain much power and torque from a remap but the driveability will probably be improved.

Jeff

Engines an air mover a remap will do nothing on it's own.

I did mods to my old 987.1 for 345Bhp but the remap was to tie in the mods, not to add the power.

you need more air in, then you need a way to get the air out ;-) this will cost you a bit of £££

Many thanks to all that answered my thread - very useful!

A friend visited the US this Summer and told me they had no availability restrictions, with GT4s seen for sale at a number of OPCs...

Thanks again for the useful feedback.

Best wishes to all for Christmas and New Year! 👍

A lot of US dealerships were asking above list price.

How do you get this information and how many Cayman 981S registered in the UK?

There's a spreadsheet on the DVLA website. Hard to pinpoint the exact number of 981 variants due to year crossovers, but around 1345 S models seems likely, with 200 of them 'Spanish' versions [;)]

google "DVLA veh0160" this is a comprehensive list year by year of cars registered new for the first time ie as they arrive at the dealers. The later years have 2 columns (uk and gb from memory but not 100% as I cannot access from iPad)not sure why but use the higher number!

the 981 has been going since 2012 and there will be very little cross over from the 987.2 as nearly all had been registered new and sold by the end 2011 although the CaymanR was still coming through until March 2012 but does not affect figures as it has its own column
