GT4 Tyres

Hi Jim,

I think the obvious go-to tyre will be the (Michelin) MPS4S according to most posting on here, but you’d need to confirm that they are N-rated since presumably your GT4 is still under warranty.

Hi all. My 718 GT4 is going to need some new rubbers fairly soon. So, recommendations please? I imagine many of you would suggest cup 2’s. However, I’m not planning on tracking the car. Just want something suited to to everyday road use.

Hi Jim,

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S are available in a Porsche N0 fitting for the GT4. Unfortunately the rear tyres don’t currently seem to be available. Thanks Colin

Depends on how and in what conditions you wish to use the car ?

I use Cup2 in the Summer and N rated PS4S (981 and 982 - 718 share the same sizes) otherwise

What tyres have you been using to date ?

Whilst the PS4S is an excellent all-round tyre and better in the wet, the Cup2 cannot be beaten for realising the potential of the car. Speed is irrelevant when comparing these tyres, depending on what type of driver one is / you are ...

You can now get Yokohama A052 in 20" GT4 sizes. I've found these excellent in the dry and in the wet exept in standing water.

Downsides is that they are expensive and do not have deep tread.

PS4S have been a v good winter tyre too.

I have Dunlops (😖) at the moment. Haven’t looked to see exactly what they are. Just know I won’t be replacing like for like.

On the road you would have to be driving at anti-social speeds (IMO) to need or notice the extra grip of semi slicks (Cup 2s or AO52s) over MPS4S's.

MPS4S's are great road tyres for a GT4 all year round.

Or perhaps I just drive too slowly ;)

I may not notice the extra grip, but I certainly notice the extra sidewall stiffness of Cup2s versus PS4Ss. Like Andrew I run both on two sets of wheels, with PS4Ss as my "winters". PS4Ss are noticeable softer which is nice in the colder months as it keeps heat in the tyres. On a hot summers day they'll be a bit squishy feeling.

As Andrew said above, it depends what kind of driver you are, how you use you car, how you like a car to feel etc.

Thanks for your input guys. I recon I’m gonna go for the PS4S’s. Seems like the best all round choice.
