Hi Guys:
Just noticed a Gen1 997 GT3 at 911 Virgin for £90k with 27k miles on the clock ... this just seams crazy money and wondering on your thoughts on how GT3 prices will effect the GT4 prices as i would never in a million years swap my GT4 for a 997 Gen1 or even 2 GT3 ...!!! GT4 Prices have moved up in the last few months but i think they should always sit in front of Gen1 and close too Gen2 GT3 prices at least ...??!!
Andrew

Gen 1 are worth £65k imo and like you would not swap a GT4 for a 10 year old 2006 GT3.

even the gen 2 are very pricey imo and again should be about £95k not the daft money they are, but the old GT3 are not for me for road use, they just are not great things to drive in the UK imo.

IF I did not have a manual 4.0 GT3 coming my GT4 would have the 420bhp upgrade by now and some passive Ohlins, what a car that would be.

And if I wanted older style feel which I do, My Cayman R is still a far far better road car than any older GT3 for fun and feedback and you can pick one up for £45k so spend £10k on a Cayman R can you have a old school car but built in 2012 with 385bhp and big brake kit a far nicer car to pilot than a 997 GT3.

GT3 hype is just that, a load of hype. The dream is better than the ownership.

Noticed a red gt4 come on to the approved used yesterday morning at OPC Leicester (without pictures etc) at £84k which looked good value, by lunchtime pics uploaded and the price increased to £93k........hmmmm!

Thanks Mr D ... By the looks of it you have got a Gen2 GT3 Allocation ...? How did you manage that ...?? Andrew

Invite only so got invited lol I guess as 80% of RS,GT3 and GT4 are flipped , still having mine counts for some thing.

997 GT3 vs GT4 - 2 very different cars - different ages and different intended experiences. I doubt the value of 997 GT3's will influence the value of GT4's up or down. GT4's are highly desirable in their own right but perhaps for different reasons.

Someone who solely wants a newer car isn't going to buy a older car much less one that isn't even a direct alternative.

Vice versa for someone who wants the old 997 GT3 experience - the GT4 isn't an alternative.

It's like considering if the value of 964 RS's will influence the value of 997 GT3's. Different cars from different era's appealing to different people.

And as with a lot of car personal choices, logic doesn't always come into it - some highly desirable cars commanding 6 figures are mechanically archaic but that is what a particular individual might want to own and may find newer cars too damped and detached from the feedback older cars give from the wheels and the road.

Just a thought...
