Just reading the February edition of GTPP and on page 93 there's an article on a 'very rare 944'. It's clearly an early and very pretty low mileage car (if rather poorly maintained from the description) but there is a list of why this car is so unusual.
Firstly it apparently has a CGT spoiler (can't tell from the picture, except it seems to have a prominent moulding mark on the underside).
Secondly it has a 944 sticker instead of a badge (this isn't the only early car I've seen with this, but I was never sure if they came from the factory this way).
Thirdly, it has Fuchs wheels. Except it doesn't. They're clearly Cookie Cutters which all early 944's would have had. Does no one proof read these things??? []
What is more interesting is there's a battery cut off switch and mention of the underseal having been deleted (the rather amusing option M666 apparently), which to me suggest this car was intended to have a rather more exciting life after its role as a press demonstrator. Seems a bit of a waste that it just goes to concours events nowadays, but that's just me I suppose!
