Several days after its arrival this car seems to be getting better... Some small nuisances (a/c playing up - has anybody had the button that turn the a/c on get hot, really hot?) (need for a full car alignment, after balancing the tyres - by the way, someone mentioned Elite Tyres in Rainham - they were ok for balancing the tyres (I suppose) but actually jacked up the car before trying to start the alignment - I got the point and it's going to the OPC for that (OPC is actually £20 cheaper than Elite!?!), a mysterious leak into the boot and the lining to the sunroof being chewed by something? But, inspite of needing alignment, what a drive....

Hi Gene :)

Ummm...If you mean the aircon button itself....it should NOT get hot EVER !

It should be normal cabin temperature......not hot, not cold....only 2 reasons I can think it would get hot...

1, An exhaust leak into car.....but that would make all around the button hot as well for at least several inches in every direction.....so unlikely...

2. An electrical short , causing the button to overheat, maybe a faulty relay....much more likely and NEEDS fixing NOW....unless you want an electrical fire :( ...I would get the OPC to check it.....OR ..make sure you carry a fire extinguisher lol :)

A proper 4 wheel alignment is done with all 4 wheels on special plates and refrective plates fixed to each wheel and done by lasers these days.....ask OPC how they do it.....if they say MIRRORS.....go elsewhere....You need CAMBER.CASTOR, and TRACKING done....cost at an independant including doing the adjustments is normally around £80 ish...

Hope this helps ...

All the best Brett :)

Hi Brett,
I don't know how you do it...
The a/c runs as follows: it cools very well for about 1 hr and then just blows air... I just noticed today the hot, hot button - talked to Paul ( who sold me the car) and he said: " don't use the a/c will book you in about two weeks time" (same as the boot leak). I did tell him that I have the car booked for this Friday with an OPC, should he look at this issues? "No!", he said "we cannot/will not pay them, would like to fix it ourselves". I am in two minds: if I wait I won't (hopefully) have to pay ( a small consideration!?!) but will have to wait and.... ?(they were supposed to have fixed this already - but then it is the wonderful 928 electrics, isn't it? and, of course, everyone is entitled to maximize their profits...) Speaking of electrics or gauges, I noticed that the battery gauge is now between 12-14 whereas before it was just touching 12 and, while on the highway, at higher speeds the PDS light came on briefly and then not to be seen again... How about that? As for the fire extinguisher - that sounds really scary!!! On that basis I would have to forego driving the car (except for Friday to the OPC and then whenever to the selling dealer - breaks my heart...)
The alignment - even Elite were doing it with the equipment you describe, they just didn't know (until I told them - the blind leading...) that you couldn't do that immediately after jacking the car up... Thanks again.

Hi Gene :)

DONT use the aircon for 2 weeks lol.....amazing answer....especially in a heatwave...well.....MY answer to that would be.....I "WILL" continue to use the aircon and if I have an electrical fire....YOUR COMPANY will obviously have to pay for any repairs as I informed you of the problem and you didnt book it in straight away ,even though you KNEW there was a fire risk....
Also....do they have a "QUALIFIED AUTO ELECTRICIAN" ??? because the OPC will....
And take my word there is a big difference between a mechanic and an auto electrician....you have to do an extra year to 2 years on the end of your training to get qualified...
I was a Race Mechanic for many years, and I am not bad on electrics generally BUT...928 electrics drive me nuts...they were not well designed in the first place :(

Battery voltage meter on 928 s on dash are famously inaccurate lolllll...they NEVER read correctly ,I am afraid.....totally ignore it....

Psd light was probably a one off...928 electrics etc.....probably combined with a bump in the road...

All the best Brett :)
