I know not on your list Shark blue is my choice Speed Yellow next but that is just my choice.

I am sure you will make the right choice that suits you great car.

Now where's that lotto ticket.:ROFLMAO:

Ps blacks a nightmare trust me no offence to any black car owners.

Appreciate choice is personal and opinions will vary hugely, but I have narrowed down my choice to the following three:-
Jet Black Metallic - satin aurum (gold) wheels
Lava Orange - satin black wheels
Crayon - satin black wheels

Anyone got any pro's and cons of either of the three combinations above? Not bothered cost wise as not vastly different.
I suspect the black will be harder to keep clean looking, although suspect Crayon will show dirt easily?
I don't have to decide yet as I suspect my 'build' won't be until at least Q3 this year.
Opinions welcome.

Cheers.

Colour choice is so personal and IMHO it also depends a lot on the use of the car, how long you plan to keep it, where you park it etc. I've had two black cars which got so hot when travelling in Europe in the summer I vowed never to have another. My previous car was Agate Grey, which was quite inconspicuous when parked in less desirable neighbourhoods and didn't engender chav behaviour from other road users. My current Guards Red is noticeably more visible to oncomers on narrow country roads (most of my driving) than the grey car. Etc, etc. I personally don't like the Aurum wheels and don't think Crayon is the best fit for a Cayman. Everyone seems to have a different view on how colour impacts residuals, which may or may not not be important to you. One of the OPC sales guys I talked to recently suggested that the best cars have a distinctive theme to the colour choices throughout the car for paintwork, interior, seats etc rather than no theme or even worse a clash. In the end go what you feel happy with and enjoy it.

Personally I’d stay away from black. It

shows up every swirl mark.

Lava Orange is nice but too loud for me so out of then3 it would have to be Crayon.

Wow, that's a million-dollar question.! Someone once said, you always want the colour you didn't choose.

I think you have really got to see it in the metal before putting pen to paper. I've recently purchased a Cayman 718 GTS in guards red with black handles and black rear spoiler, and absolutely love it. However, as much as I liked guards red, it wasn’t a colour at the top of my list..! Some colours look better in pictures, than they do in the flesh, and vice versa. I do have a concern, as much as I like it, that Crayon will date quicker than others. Out of the 3, I think Lava Orange would be my choice, or Python green.? Again, looks great in the metal..Either way, apart from frozen berry metallic (whatever happened in the paint factory that day..!!), you can’t really go wrong with any colour..

Congrats on the GTS 4.0, absolutely gorgeous car, certainly one to maintain its residual value well..😊👍

Thanks for opinions all.

CliffWilkins - Shark Blue interesting yes, but which wheel colour? Yellow not for me, but then again, the Lava Orange is a bit loud too. Comments on black noted and I think I may have dismissed black, just thought it looked really good with the Aurum wheel colour.

BrianJ - plan to keep the car for a long time, into retirement. Will be parked on drive so Lava Orange will attract attention, but neighbourhood generally OK, not had any problems with current Guards Red 981 GTS (touch wood). I note comments on Agate Grey and I like it, but my company car is essentially that colour so want something different to that. I know Crayon is a fairly modern colour and may not hold it's popularity but I have seen a GT4 in Crayon and I thought it really suited the car. I think the Aurum wheels suit the black and maybe the Gentian Blue. I'm definately not worried about resale/residuals as planning on keeping it. I'm fixed on my choice of all options apart from colour, so happy with all that 'on that side of things' (for anyone that listens to Jonny Smits's 'Smith and Sniff' podcast).

Scrounger - Lava Orange agreed very loud, really like it, but maybe too much of an attention seeker, which I'm definately not. I'm leaning to Crayon too.

ed987S - love the Guards Red, but my current 981GTS is Guards Red so want something different. Although it has genuinely crossed my mind to get another Guards Red as her indoors wouldn't notice it's a new car! You think I'm joking, no really. All I would have to say is that I had put a new air freshener in the car, genuinely. Agree Crayon might date, but still think it may be top of my list currently. Lava Orange as I say, love it but really loud. Not keen on Python Green, probably because I've seen so many of them on You Tube when the car was launched. All press cars seemed to be Python Green, or maybe it was the same car? Frozen Berry - agreed, what's that about?

Colour is really one you have to choose yourself, as everyone has very different opinions and my view is unlikely to be the same as yours. But since you asked here are my views on those choices

Black. Looks terrible and really tacky with gold wheels. Simply dreadful. But I do hate all black cars. Can't stand them.

Crayon. Looks like undercoat to me. Will look fine once its finished being painted. I know that not everyone shares that view.

Lava. Bold choice but then bold is not always a bad thing. I ended up with the equally bold Python Green by accident, and though I hated it at first I coming to appreciate the boldness. My wife still hates it though. Of your three that what I would go for.

Of the other colours available

Guards - can't go too wrong with this

White - Dont like white cars

Yellow - some people love yellow. I don't

Agate - too dark

Silver - classic. Always looks good. But it won't stand out

Gentian - Too dark - looks black or dull in dull light. Looks good in a showroom

Frozen berry - what can you say?

Carmine - Looks good on the configurator. Dull in real life

Shark Blue - Everyone is ordering Shark blue at the moment

That leave the connoisseur's choice, Aventurine Green which is simply stunning. Looks cool and classy in an Aston Martin sort of way. Different in different lights, it can just look like a restrained grey in dull light but in sunlight the gold flecks really pop. That would be my choice is I get a chance to spec another car from new. Bear in mind it looks awful on the configurator.

Shame that PCCBs are not currently available because it looks great with the yellow callipers. Looks much better with silver wheels.

Well, you did ask.

Haha, love it..! Really, your other half wouldn't know..🤣😂 I know what you mean with Python green, but does look nice in the metal.. Good luck with whatever you decide on, I bet you cant wait..👍

All of the above … well, you did ask Nigel!

Like Graham I have a pathological dislike of black (best left to hearses) and I don’t really like white (that’s for ambulances and police vehicles) or grey (just a toned-down black using a whitener!), but oddly enough I agree with you that Crayon looks quite good. Shark Blue with silver wheels most likely would be my choice.

I was at the PEC today and there was an Lava Orange Cayman and a Python Green Boxster, both of which were very eye-catching … if you’re into that sort of thing.

Best to just make up your own mind, but I concur with Ed’s comment that: “Someone once said you always want the colour you didn’t choose”.

Reminded me as I was driving my new black 987 Gen II Cayman S home I passed my neighbour - a rather posh ex-military chappie with a great sense of humour. "That would be good for the sportier type of funeral" says he :ROFLMAO:.

Ha,ha! An interesting thought Brian, although getting all of the coffin in the back could be a challenge! Maybe removing the passenger seat would help? 😀

My first Cayman was basalt black. Looked fantastic for the first 10 mins after it had been washed and then showed up every bit of dirt going forward. Very difficult to wash and not mark although it wasn't a new car and had a fair bit of swirling already . I remember getting a bit of grit in a drying towel once ( unbeknown to me) and marking most panels on the car. Had it professionally polished and then bought all the gear to do it myself going forward. Had guards red on the next car , much easier to keep clean and looked great in the sun. Current car is a GTS in python green. I agonised on the configurator between lava orange and the green , occasionally bailing out and taking the safe option of GT silver. However, after seeing a lava orange Macan in the flesh, it was a bit too bright for me and I stuck with the green. After the lock in date I started to panic a bit, but once it arrived I was very happy and wouldn't change it at all.

I agree that shark blue looks nice , not keen on Crayon but if I wasn't fortunate enough to get a new one , I would probably take anything apart from frozen berry. I remember seeing a metallic pink Ferrari in Beijing once and the frozen berry reminds me of that.

If you always want the colour you didn't choose in the end, what about Miami blue, which hasn't even been mentioned? (Of course I could be biased).

Miami Blue is not a currently available option. Which is probably why it hasn't been mentioned!

It`s a `sportscar` ... hence White - Yellow - Guards Red - Shark Blue - Lava Orange or Python Green, all with Platinum / Anthracite wheels and Red calipers

No door graphics please [;)] :p

What, even if you pay about £1600 extra?

No Paul. Shark Blue replaced Miami on the Configurator as a Special Colour, so I assume that Miami would be PTS (££££!!).
