GTS. Factory Collection. Leipzig

I am looking forward to 28th February when we fly out to Leipzig to collect our Red GTS.

The collection day includes a Test Track and Off Road track. The 60% ascent and 35% slanting slope sounds challenging.
Has anyone else here done a Leipzig collection and if so, any 'Tips'?

I have thought about collecting the car and going East into the Czech republic for a day or so and again I would welcome comment on doing this.

Tony, enjoy the trip and post some photos if you can.
I collect my Red GTS on the 1st March and can't wait.

have fun and let us know what its like .. we had arranged Factory collection on ours.... We got a call from our sales guy on March 15th (all 2006 dates) saying the car had just rolled off the line and we should hear from the factory collection people at Porsche Cars Great Britain soon. On that call we took the opportunity of discussing possibly days as both the missus and I have to give notice at work for vacation. Our sales guy told us he had been told by PCGB that end of March was a complete No No as that was too tight but early April should be ok. Less than a week later on the 20th I was called by PCGB and offered the following week (week of the 27th) .. by now both of us has business meetings that week, so we said sorry no.. We where then offered "some time in middle / late MAY!!!! " So we cancelled the factory visit as we were not going to wait over 4 weeks to go collect the car. After hastling Porsche for yet another week as "apparently there is no way the computer car move a car from Factory collection back in the delivery line" ..... the car was finally put on a train to Emden where she arrived on 30th March. She was sat in Emden for AGES and eventually on the 6th April we where promised she would land in the UK on the 7th, which she did and our Sales guy moved hell and earth to get her moved on ...

Any way water under the bridge so lets move on. Have fun and tell us what we missed :D

I'm Jealous of both of you.
Tony must be worth a visit to Czechko not been there myself since the wall came down was probably better then in its way.At least they did not have lager louts
defacing the streets of Prague .Just put your foot down and get through it quickly.
Have fun
PS Come back via Geneva . The show is 6th to 16th March

Hi Tony,

I am going to something similar in April, although I cannot pick up my MY08 CTT as it has to be shipped to the Middle East (Tax reasons), I am going to do the Discover Leipzig experience. Similar to you as it has a factory/customer centre tour, Co-Pilot/Pilot a CTT on and offroad. We have also lunch in the Porsche restaurant.

Not sure if you are dealing with Mr Dellwig from Porsche Leipzig but he is very helpful. Remember you cannot take kids below 6 in the factory tour an obviously young kids (<12) are not allowed in the car when you are test driving.

Best regards,

Mark

Hu Kevin,
Great idea but we have arranged to meet our adult children with our grandkids in Eurodisney and to go south on the 6th to Geneva would mean that we would overstay the 9 day period that one is allowed to drive about on 'Transit' plates.

If we did go to Geneva, Paul Thompson would not forgive me as he and his wife are driving out in their GT3 to join us on the factory tour then we are going to have a few days touring then split at Cologne when he drives home and we carry on West to Disney.
