GTS v GTS4

Hi all

At last I have made my mind up on the upgrade of my 996 Guards Red Cabriolet (2002) and it will be either a GTS or GTS4 Cabriolet ( hopefully in Guards Red ) ( anyone got one they are looking to change from ?) ..... Anyway, I have noticed that GTS's appear to be being advertised with385BHP and the GTS4's with 408BHP ........ If the car has Sports Chrono Plus surely both should be the same ...... WHY?

OPC adverts rarely have the correct engine figures for limited editions. The 4GTS is one of the exceptions to be correct. I think it must be preset in the system, rather than indivuals making errors on the ads.

Take for example the Boxster Spyder (sorry). They're always advertised with the same 310HP as an 'S' but it has 320HP. The ad for a Black Edition says 320HP, which is what the Spyder has.

Just go by the brochure figures, not the OPC ads.

Hi
Yes I had noticed this error too when buying my GTS.
Both variants have the same 408Hp 3.8 engine.

So, just another example of ************ then.

Thanks ...... If anyone hears of a suitable car please let me know

You won't be disappointed .... If you can find one
Just checked Porsche approved and there only 5 GTS cabs .. out of 12 GTS 2's and 5 GTS 4's, all coupes.
Good luck with the search

GTS 2 Coupe was the first 911 I drove too (after a Cayman R). Still got mine I'm pleased to say. Go for it - I am sure you'll love it.

still searching .......... There must be a good Guards Red GTS Cabriolet somewhere ....... Thanks for the inspiring comments

I too have seen a couple of Guards Red Coupes recently, but not found a cab ....... Is there any way of finding out from Porsche if any were made etc.

Never mind the GTS - get one of these.....[;)]

I did originally think that my "for ever" next Porsche should be a Turbo, but felt that a newer GTS might be a better option. ..... I had seen the Turbo advert (link provided), and the one on the Porsche web site, but was concerned about the high mileage and lack of warranty with the 3.8, and not over keen on Tiptronic on the Porsche site ........

If there was a <10K mile Guards Red Turbo Cab for that sort of money then I may be swayed.

Each car I look at, I compare with my own C2 Carerra Cab ( which is Guards ) mine is immaculate with only 40K miles since 2002, and has been cherished and wanted for nothing ............. maybe I should just keep that and save the money ........

With 348 GTS S-A (PDK) registered in UK, if 150 are cabs and even 10% were Guards you have a pretty small pool of possibly 10 to 15 cars with that spec - probably even less in UK
Good luck it is a great package
