I have obtained some information that owners may find useful when thinking of new paint.
According to Porsche HQ, my 1987 Guards Red Carerra Sport was factory finished in Glasurit Unicolour ('22 Line') acrylic with no clear coat.
To get the vibrant colour we know and love, they apparently lay down a base colour coat in Grand Prix White and then overpaint with red.
Of course, with a 17 year old car, there is likely to be a degree of 'chalking' and new paint may have to be tinted away from the original shade to get a colour match.
