Guards Red....or is it?

My car has panels of various hues due to fading, old resprays etc and it is patiently waiting for its Dad to take it for a professional respray.....when funds allow.
My indicator surround cracked and a replacement in met silver didn't look very posh so i thought I'd spray it ..... its going to be resprayed anyway oneday.
A trip to Halfords with the original and I realised .....and this is the bit that will seem a bit heretical...that VW colour 'Flash Red' is so close to my version of Guards Red that I cannot tell the difference after a couple of coats and 3 coats of Laquer.
I realise that the concours experts have probably raised a few eyebrows but it worked for me...
There I've confessed now . I feel better.

ps neat washing up liquid and sugar is a cheap way to clean grime off your hands, an old tip from my Land Rover days!!!

I think VW called it Tornado red though - maybe they renamed it flash red later. The SEAT red is called Flash red as well and that's quite likely the same colour too.
