hi there i dont know if you remember me saying a few weeks ago that i had a miss fire on the first cylinder and some of you thought it was the temp sensor. well guess what it was the head gasket!!! i was out last sunday just crusing thinking it was the temp sensor or a cloged injector, when i looked at the temp and it was very high so i pulled over and let it cool down for 5 mins then toped up the water. i thought i would check the oil while i was there and shit!!!! not the usual colour.. a week later £1349 oup the bracket and a very sad face. that includes for the new head gasket service and belts changing. but it does not include the head been sent away to be tested. how much should i be looking at paying for that doing????looking at the other post's its also getting zymol'd for £125 so at least thats a good thing. i think it should be free the amount i am spending!!!

Ouch sorry to hear that Oliver - very painful on the wallet - my car has just gone into Hartech today for its service/MOT and a few other bits and pieces and my fingers are crossed that all is ok but £1000 +[]

Sorry to hear that, at least once its done it should be good for a few years. IIRC you haven't had it long was it a private sale?

yes i have only had it about 1 month. and only driven it 3 times what a kick in the teath. i am not having much luck with these porsches my last car had £6000+ spent on it in the 5 montrhs i had it and i only got £2250 back for it!!! well better luck with the new boxer s i have on order i hope. at least it will be under warranty

Bummer.

I nearly offered you mine when you said you were going for an S2 but you didn't specify you wanted a cab (so I assumed you were after a coupe), and also you were putting a lot of stock in the recorded mileage. Not trying to rub salt in, but I've taken mine from 180,000 to 183,500 miles since you bought yours - a prime example of why low mileage isn't always (or even often with 12+ year old cars IMO) an advantage.

Edited for fat fingeredness.

Someone on Titanic sold his tuned turbo (he had owned for many years) and replaced it with a Boxster S after 7,000 miles the engine required replacment, I believe he want to sell / has sold it now.

The trouble is that we get all these jobs done and then decide that we are going to change cars. Still, BKE's a long way from having all his jobs done so I doubt I'll bore of him for a little time yet.

dont worry i will still keep the 944 when i get the boxter as i think they are still alot of car for the money and also there not as common as the everyday porsche that you see around, and the bird can drive the 944 and i dont have to worry about loosing to much money if its smashed up.... like my old vx220!! (i got rid of the last bird very quickly after that, only covered 3rd party!!!!)

i still love my 944 even though i havnt really driven it that much and i think i am going to keep it to add to the
collection of cars i am trying to build up.... hopefully it will go up in value one day!!!

Going back to my problems does anyone know how much it should cost for the head to be sent away to be tested??
