Guilty of crass stupidity

patch

Being lazy (busy was the excuse) had the car washed by good Eastern European team in Slough - no problem there, they do a good job. Decided to drive with caution over the kerb to leave instead of the slope that was blocked, no probs at the front and no spoiler catch... rolled it at no speed at right angles but thwacked the under carriage as the rear wheels went over. I now have an oil leak from my previously bone dry 996... about a litre this week dripping onto the floor. Any ideas what would be the very first thing to hit once the wheels drop from a kirb? I am obviously going to have it looked at and will try Richard's mate again at Wrightune. Any ideas what damage I might have done would be welcome (apart from to my own self esteem - it looked a tiny kirb!!)
Hoping it's not too expensive.

I bet you thought "oops-a-daisy" - or something stronger, perhaps. [] [] []

Where is the oil dripping from?

great photo! just to make things more difficult, had double knee surgery on Thursday so not up to crawling yet! However, Mrs Mc had a dig underneath and describes the leak as being near the 'screws' (the five bolts that can be seen in a line) at the back of the larger almost square relatively flat bottomed box (the sump I guess). Not actually on the join but about an inch further forward. However, the car was on a slight nose-down slope so the oil could have run forward slightly from that.

Sounds like it might have damaged the sump pan, but difficult to say without getting it up in the air. If it has cracked the pan it isn't too expensive (£98 inc VAT) - hopefully it hasn't damaged anything more. Best to get it looked at ASAP, and keep a good eye on the oil level.

Good spot and thank you Richard - indeed it was a cracked plate and was fixed in an hour. I did it at OPC Reading in the end as I was already there and had a little time on my hands. They gave me 10% off parts and a reduced labour rate of £65 instead of £95 as car older than five years (I have posted this info in the relevant string too).

recently eased out of 987 and into Christmas red early 996

You'll have to remember next time there is a kerb, that there's a lot of weight hanging out the back now...[;)]
