Gurus MUST by-pass the CV!!

I just spend an hour twiddling the boost up with the Accuboost and it works great. Before today it didnt. Reasin, i connected it directly to the CV!!!!

I was overboosting, spiking and had the Accuboost almost screwed right out and it was still reading 15psi!! Once i tried it with the CV by-passed it was reading 5psi. And it took 3 turns to get up to 15 agian.

I was really wondering about the CV with the problems i was having with the A/F going lean.

I bypassed mine, following Paul's experiences, but didn't realy notice a difference. I wasn't having too many problems previously but hadn't pushed it that hard to see if I was geting a drop off in boost at higher revs. Without the CV I don't seem to have any problems in this respect. I wonder if the Guru upgrade is more problematical for 250's as they have more experience of 220's in the States?
 
My mate who now owns my first ever 951 - a very early '86 car is having fun. We just remembered last week that it broke down on my test drive and had to get a replacement ECu. Turnso out that came from an '89 car. We now wonder if that's why it always seemed to be a flier.

Anyhow Danno has had to send out a set of 250 chips now 'cos the early 220 ones didn't fit.

Please excuse my ignorance of the detail workings of a '44 Turbo, but what is the CV you are refering to? Obvoiulsy not the CV Joint !!!

Yes on 944ts we connect the boost directly to the CV joint, make it spin faster [;)]

But seriously, no its the Cycling Valve, the method the Porsche uses to control the boost and to stop overboosting. When you fit different chips then that is no longer used, so you are much much better off connecting the boost controler directly to the wastegate, instead of indirectly to it through the CV...

I don't know if all after market chips ignor the cycling valve (or timing valve as it is refered to in PET) but Gurus do and all "Wayned" DPW installations I have seen bypass the cycling/timing valve as well.

Fair point, but if you are fitting a boost controler anyway there is no need to have anotherone in line with it. As long as you have a boost gauge to tell you whats going on i suppose.
