Gutted - Rear Luggage Cover Broken

I managed to get a Burgundy Luggage Cover from the United States and it has arrived with the not so gentle care of US & UK Customs and a few delivery drivers along the way.

The end caps are smashed to pieces and the cover now doesn't have any springs or tension to work [:(]

Does anyone know how or where to get these fixed and working or has anyone done it themselves? I've looked on Clark Garage and it doesn't seem that simple and as my end plates are smashed I am missing bits I need I think?

Have you checked to see if end caps are still available from Porsche
The spring will be easy to fix, probably just needs re-tensioning

Think I've sorted the spring tensioning, but OPC say that Burgundy end caps are no longer available and they are checking to see if there are any black ones in Germany as no stock in UK.

Either way it's another £50 on the price then painting if I can get some [:(]

Retractable ? should be the fabric type that lifts with the rear tailgate, as i am sure you will know.

Yes but I've changed from a split rear seat when I got the spare seats re trimmed.

I dont like the fabric ones and much prefer the retractable ones.

Martin,I've just got 2 new black plastic roller end caps from Chester OPC-I think they were £6.48 ea-these are to refurbish a blind which came with a s/h leather seat set I fitted to my wife's 924S-because I transferred her existing blind to the leather seat set-the one I replaced has one end missing.

However, the new ones are the later type-no big deal except they are opposite handed so to get them to fit means re-rolling the blind thus reversing the fabric layup so that the end cap fabric slots are in the correct place.
If you have grasped that then I award you a radioactive pineapple[:)]

Thanks for that, I totally understood everything you've said....., NOT [:D]

So hopefully OPC Kendal will be able to supply them and I will get them painted.

Sit tight and something in Burgundy will turn up, have you tried the usual breakers ?

It did, and I got it paying a bit more than I wanted but the couriers obviously played javelin throwing games with it.

I had already tried every breaker looking for one. I will get this one fixed then all will be good hopefully

if OPC have not got them then [:)]

Black ones sorted from OPC so will have to get them painted.

Only about £7.50 a side less discount so a lot cheaper than 944 Online with his £20 carriage fees [8|]

You know me so well [:D]

Sorted from OPC for a more reasonable price [8D]

So I got the new ends painted Burgundy and myself and a friend (Cheers William I owe you a pint [;)] ) set about re tensioning the blind before inserting it into the housing and then screwing it onto the back seat.

The job of re tensioning the blind is very straight forward and pop riveting the end caps back on wasn't difficult either. It is a 2 man job to do it properly. The hardest part was the screws to fix to the seat back as Porsche supplied 1" screws which just don't give enough grip so I got some 2" ones from my local hardware store and it fits perfectly.

I just need to give it a wipe over then all will be good [:)]

Love the Cup badge on the rear. I'm doing that to mine too (once I fit the 931 grilles)..nice little touch! It's a French thing that yes? They put those Cup badges on the TurboS cars iirc? Did they go on post '89 cars too?

Thanks, I got 10 made exactly the same as the French cars. It was a French thing for their Turbo S Silver Rose cars only as far as I am aware done by the French Porsche importer, but I liked it so wanted to replicate for my car. [:D]
