H4 Bulb replacement

Just trying to replace main beam bulb & have removed body colour ring around headlamp that then reveals 2 screws that I guess retain the lamp. Thing is these just spin in their thread and headlamp seems locked solid.
Am I missing something (I'm not the best at this DIY lark!)?

Julian,

I'm afraid you have just screwed up (no pun intended!!) the aim adjustment. The headlamp itself is retained by a single screw at the bottom - the coloured ring is retained by a single screw which screws into the middle of the lamp retaining screw. Once the screw is removed you'll need to lift the bottom slightly to release the rim from the top. They sometimes need a bit of persuading!!

The retaining screws are notorious for rusting and often the thread disappears into dust. The only real solution here is to have new lugs brazed into position.

Regards

Dave
