I have just purchased a Nov '90 944 S2 , it is guards red with 107,000 miles. The registration number is H516 WES.
Anyone know anything about this one?

Thanks Paul

That's interesting - I wonder if it's Stevie from Titanic as he's up that way and breaks Porsches. In any case WES is a Scottish registration.

As i recall the guy bought it to break for spares as it had failed its mot but didnt have the time to strip it !!!

Is your enquiry just general or did you have any specific area of interest? If the above is all correct then I would be looking very closely at the sills for corrosion as a car that has likely spent 17 years in Scotland and that was considered at one point to be an uneconomic MoT repair may well have rot.

Of course if you are in posession of the car and none of us have seen it then you know better than the rest of us how it looks in terms of condition.

I think I saw this on eBay too. If I remember correctly it was basically OK but had suffered N/S/F accident damage needing a new wing, headlamp assy, bumper etc., so the insurance had Cat 'D' on it. Repairable if you could get the bits.

Yes Fen, I do have a specific interest. I am travelling over to Scotland tomorrow to pick it up and will know better then, Paul

OK - I meant did you have a particular aspect of the car you are unsure about or were you just trying to establish a bit of info about its past out of interest.

It may well be a good car, but in all seriousness take a long look at the sills (especially) before you hand over the cash.

I was trying to find out if anyone had personal knowledge of the car, both in its present state and in the past. I am aware of the pitfalls of the 944's as this will be my 6th. It is always difficult buying without prior viewing and I will know better when I meet Stevie later today, Paul

OK. Stevie has always seems like a decent and realistic bloke so I expect you will find it as described.

Why do I know that Number plate WES?? Does someone else have a car with that ending? Its bugging me!! Plus if Steve is the same Steve in Dumfries I bought a car from? I found him to be very realistic with his description and I would buy another from him. If not forget all about it. lol

Unfortunately the car was in a sorry state. The rear footwell, sills and bottoms of the rear panels were completly rotten. Very much a wasted journey and wasted money!

I wouldn't exactly call it a waste of money probably saved money by not buying it at least and also that is one less to look at. Good luck for any more you may look at, I hope you find the one you're after.

That's not good - though for a Scottish car that didn't sound like it had been well looked after pretty much what I would have expected. Was it Stevie selling it and didn't he describe it accurately?

Yes it was Stevie selling it. He did mention that there was 'minor' welding required to the floor, but neglected to tell me that the rear panels ect were crumbling into brown dust. This must have been the worst example of a 944 that I have ever looked at. I would not have expected a Nov '90 S2 to have suffered so much from the metal mice.
