HAGERTY INSURANCE - exile list - UPDATE

I think I may have been one of the first to suffer this change. At the time it was only the reduction in mileage that was given as the reason that they wouldn't offer to renew my insurance. My suspicion was that trackday cover was more of an issue (I took out 5 days with them last year). http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=522610 I had no choice at the time so renewed with Classicline. I'll e-mail you my details for your list.

A lot of us are with Hagerty Insurance it seems and one of the major reasons for this has been the inclusion of track day cover in what has always been a flexible policy brokered by enthusiastic guys who understood our cars.

Their underwriters Allianz have also reduced the max annual mileage on cars from 1990 onwards to 3000.

They have said if they get enogh people leaving because of these changes they will look into it and consider a different underwriter.

If you will possibly leave at renewal because of the above can you please email me your Full Name and Postcode and I will put a list together and talk to them about it.

My renewal is in 2 weeks time so we may aswell try!!!

Email me at jpgraham @ hotmail.co.uk

cheers

Jason

I was with Hagerty, contact was Phil Dunne. Got on well, like that they are Car Guys. Renewal came through, 5 911s on cover with them. Big Big jump in Premium No Claims in year, No trackdays in year, after discussions with Phil tried uping excesses etc to get Premium down, no joy. Went to Classicline, put all 5 on cover with them for Increased Values, for similar money to Hagertys 2009 premium. Was a bit disappointed in Hagerty as i had put quite a bit of Buisness there way and now find my friends having to move policies now too. Best of Luck Jason, Dont hold your breath. Cheers Al

I have four cars with them Jason, though I'll be talking to them this week to book insurance for Oulton on the 2nd June ... The only reason I'm with them is for the trackday cover ---

Ok well I sent them details of over 30 people who contacted me in 24hrs to say they would be leaving but after a week no further change. Seems this is completely out of their hands and I guess they are probably paying for sweeping up most of the marketplace over the last 2 years. Shame as they were great to deal with. Started shopping around. Heritage did not really like the mods on my car. I'd have definitely have gone with Manning again on their Allianz Modern policy but.... Ended up going with ClassicLine as it was half the price of A.Manning. You really are best speaking speak to Darren Coote if you contact them. You have to really pester them though - I left about 5 messages over 4 days and he never ever rang me back and I doubt he got the messages from actually speaking to him. I was actually without cover for one day on all the cars as I couldn't get clarification on the track cover so not the greatest service in the world. They are mental busy though with all the Le Mans coming up but also everyone leaving their insurers!! They were only ones who were ok with all my mods on the cars. They cover PCGB track days automatically and the RS day and Spa CF days I think but anything else has to be agreed first and think its about £50 a day. So failed to get Hagerty to change but nothing ventured nothing gained I guess. Good luck all!

As well as the trackday offering being removed, the prices have increased significantly. Last year I paid £190 and this year the renewal is £320 !!

I've just been collecting quotes. I've found Manning, ClassicLine and Peart to be the most competitive, in terms of premiums, and offering track day cover. Manning seem to be most flexible on track days, but ClassicLine are cheapest. Other companies I called were either much more expensive and/or could not offer track cover. I'm currently with Hagerty, who've doubled their premium, and reduced the cover!

I've just had 'the letter' from Hagerty saying they are unable to offer renewal terms for my policy. Not even an offer to call to discuss requirements. So, on Monday I'll start phoning around those companies mentioned above. Jason - any particular reason to speak to Darren Coote at Classicline?

Classic line were ALOT cheaper for mine (and being reps were ok with them withour rediculous lists). I always loved Manning and there track cover is by far the best imho. As your car sits in the garage all polished and dust free though Rich I'd speak to ClassicLine ;)

For the past 4 years I've insured with Hagerty on their policy including trackday cover but as you know I've yet to properly track it. But, having the track day cover in place means I could take it on track if I wanted to. Does anyone know of a system where I could insure my car on a normal classic policy (which doesn't include track cover), but then pay an additional 'track day premium' if/when I decided to take the car on track. Would probably work out cheaper than paying for the track cover upfront but then possibly not using it.

Classicline include trackday cover for PCGB days in the premium and you can pay for additional trackdays with other TDOs. They said that these would be about £50 per day when I spoke to them to sign up for my insurance.

Jason, I will be shopping around at the Silverstone Classic. I would be very interested to see what percentage of Hagerty's business remains, they almost seem in self destruct mode, having been one of the best. Anybody know of any big claims on them ??

Hi All, Had been very happy with Hagerty for the past 2 years good prices with breakdown cover track laps etc. However renewed in feb and asked for same cover and would marque laps at Le Mans Classic be possible. I was told that was no problem. I phoned to confirm details with them before departure- and was told they were not insuring track laps anymore- i said i had been assured on renewal that they were and the guy said sorry you were given wrong information. Looks like they will be losing a lot of porsche/ sports car business- I cant wait to cancel and have taken another car policy with Classicline at a much better rate than Hagerty. Just my 2p. Cheers Ron

I think they have made some big losses and underwriter has pretty much pulled the plug on them. To be fair they're cover was stupidly cheap and stupidly comprehensive compared to the competition in last 3 years. Could never last. Was fun while it did though :)
