hiya all, after the dents were totally removed from my little ding over xmas and although the dent removel guy did an excellent job[imho], it has left a small hairline crack in the bottom of the wheel arch, drivers side front before the front spoiler.the little spots of paintwork i will sort with a pen but will i need to go to dreaded body shop for hairline crack to be sorted? ideas please all!! regards as always jason p ps. h/crack about two inches long..

Is this in the front plastic bumper? If so it will need plastic welding. If it also needs painting might be worth finding a 2nd hand one and painting and fitting that.
If its in the wheel arch then this should be metal and I can't think why it would crack unless its full of filler or the metal has been re-worked too hard and split.

I'm guessing you mean in the paint on the metal part of the wing. If it's cracked here then the paint will need to be taken back to remove the flaking bits or water will just get trapped. Is it within the textured stoneguard finish? If so it's a local repair I'd have thought, rather than the whole wing needing painting.
hiya tom,thanks for reply, no not in front spoiler,where the hairline crack is, also is the area that took the full force of the knock which forced the dents to appear on the top of the wing, after the guy from paintless dent removal removed the big ugly dents it was apperent who well the wing took this knock and i was amazed considering how hard the knock was that i only had a very small hairline crack and with the greatest respect tom, my two owner s2 [including myself] has never seen a bit of filler in her 20years, down here in the east end of london we tend to make sure porsches we buy are not full of filler , i will try to post a photo regards jason p
That made me smile, I wasn't trying to say your car was full of filler.
So is Paul right about the paint cracking? If so the only way to repair woul be a re-paint.
Up here in the North of England we all drive around with loads of filler in the wings, the extra weight helps us get about in the snow.

Us Eastenders know a proper good Porker when we see one. (That's why we both drive S2's!)
ETA: Andrew Churcher is a good East End Lad as well - and he has a decent S2 as well! That makes three of us!

If the crack is in the wing then it is possible in the accident or the "paintess" dent repairs the steel of the wing became cracked. You will only be able to tell by removing the paint down to bare metal. If the wing is cracked then the crack will have to be welded up, ground back to flush then that area of the wing seam sealed and painted on both sides to prevent rust.
In fact, the paintless dent removal process uses various tools behind the wing, so I would not be surprised that the factory stonechip coating/sealer and paint is damaged under the wing too. Jack the car up, remove the wheel, remove the plastic liner and shine a torch up there to see if the underwing paint/coating/sealer is still intact.

thanks john, have a guy coming to fix the crack,basically hes going to do what you and paul and not forgetting "homesea" have all mentioned, also mentioned taking paint back to metal,a thin metal plate,webbing and small area blown in, job can be done for £150, guy comes rec from mate, cheers all and will try to post a before and after, so glad the whole wing dont need painting as cracked area is just under two inches, regards jason p
