Hairline Cracks on rear floor

Hi
I removed the rear carpets on my 1984 3.2 for cleaning and noticed some small cracks in the floor. They do not appear to be very deep. The car has covered about 200k miles, I was just wondering if it could be the chassis flexing?

The floor pan has a tar composite bonded to the floor, this has a tendency to become brittle as it ages ,crack and sometimes break up.Have a closer look it may just be this that shows cracks.Composite is about 3- 4 mm.

Thanks for your reply. I could not see any tar on the topside of the floorpan where the cracks appear, are you refering to the underside?

Jerry,

It's painted grey and looks like part of the floor. It cracks pretty easily. Most common way is where someone has jacked the car on the flooorpan or some road debris has flown up and whacked the floor from underneath.

Just for the record I took mine off with a heat gun and wallpaper scraper - it weighed 3.5kgs!

Many thanks for the info. By the way I notice your 3.2 produces 371 bhp, is it supercharged?
