Hi, My hand brake warning light on my 78 SC has decided to stay permanently on, i have tried to adjust the switch at the base of the hand brake by slackening the adjustment screw and sliding the switch up and down but it makes no difference in any position ! Previously the hand brke warning light would light up after about 3 clicks now it just stay on !! any suggestions ?

Hi, I have sorted the hand brake warning light problem. It wasnt the hand brake switch adjustment after all. The warning lamp on the dash is a combined hand brake and brake pressure warning lamp. I pulled back the carpet in the trunk and cleaned up the electrical connections to the two switches on the brake master cylinder. Hey presto the warning lamp now goes off when the engine is started.

Hello,
I had a problem with my brake warning light staying on as well. I disconnected the battery for maintenance work and when I reconnected the battery the light had gone out and has worked perfectly since, I concluded that the relay had stuck on and by cutting the power to the relay it released itself?. The duel brake system pressure switches and the brake warning light are relay activated so have a go it might work for you.
Cheers
John

Thanks John, I disconnected the battery at the same time as i cleaned up the pressure switch connections. It must have done the trick as its perfect now.

Cheers Phil
