Hello all
I was having a read through my handbook and happened to see; "oil consumption up to 1.5L in 1000km".
My Cayman hasn't required a drop of oil in 3000 miles so im just interested to see whether anyone actually uses this amount of oil?

It seems very high for offical figures?

Joe

Yeah I don't seem to require any top-ups between annual oil changes (~6k miles) either. That figure is probably a maximum.

Same for me also with my previous 987.1 and 987.2 Caymans.

My new 982 CS 4 pot turbo now has 1000 miles up and oil level still at maximum.

It's a maximum permissible figure and yes somewhat high, I don't think I've ever heard of anyone using that much unless the engine had been in a bad way, maybe if the AOS went it would drag some out it does cause smoke but otherwise if it was that bad it would probably wreck the Llamda sensors and cats!
