Can anyone tell me when the rear suspension arms changed from steel to alloy as they require different handbrake cables!!!
Thanks
Nick

Front suspension arms changed in 85/86 rears not sure sorry. The alloy ones are alloy coloured if that helps.

Quite likely there are '85.5 - '86 alloy ones and then another alloy '87- for the ABD offset as with the fronts.

I have looked at various websites for new ones and they only list them as long and short cables no year of manufacture is specified!!!

Driver's side is short and passenger is long (regardless of LHD/RHD) so maybe they didn't otherwise change.

The rear was changed to incoporate the antilock brakes. At the same time the rear wheel spacers were not required due to the space being taken up by the ABS. I suspect the change ocurred around S2 time. You can get a pair of CDs with the wotkshop manuals on and PET5 which is the parts lists for all cars and all years. This will show a diagram of almost any part you want. Its available on Ebay for about a fiver - amazing when you think what the paper versions used to cost.

PET 6 is available free from Eastendr's website...[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]If they changed for ABS then that was for '87. What spacers? There were no cars with OE spacers fitted.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
