My handbrake works okay however I find that the L/H side handbrake linkage(at the bottom of the shoes)rattles.
The handbrake cable going into the hub body on the L/H side is slack causing the linkage/actuator to rattle over bumps.
Is this down to an adjustment? It would appear that the handbrake is less effective on this side. The adustment on the shoes appears to be correct and if I adjusted anymore, the brakes would bind.
If I adjust at the handbrake handle end would it adjust the problem side and also tighten the cable into the body to stop the rattle?

The "parking brake" cable in 2 halfs
It might be the left hand side is starting to sieze up. inside the cable. Its a common thing.
Ive justed replaced both my cables + adjusted everything up, its now great.
The cables arent that expensive. Try Euro car parts.....There a bit of a fiddle to do though....
Unless youve got the rear beam removed....
Then there dead easy...
BUT
You dont have to remove the rear beam....[ Thought ide add that so you dont get "worried".....].............

If I pull on the L/H cable going into the hub body it appears to pull out of the body(its asthough there is a cable clip needed)although I did wonder if an adjustment at the handle end might sort it out.thing is the R/H side has no problems.[8|]

Sounds like a cable siezed in its conduit... check where the one cable splits into two in the centre, you may find the side you have a problem with is moving a conduit but not allowing the cable to slide within it
