handbrake retaining springs

Getting throught the jobs this week.
Front discs and pads fitted. Whilst the car was up on axle stands decided to investigate front pu grilles. Wasnt going to pay for the £180 porsche ones. Instead, took a trip to ....you know who....and bought some aluminium mesh. Will forward pictures later. Took me a fair while to mark out, cut and fit but its really looking good. All fixed with £2.49 clear silicone sealer.
Put car now up on rear axles to look into replacing discs and pads. Upon taking the discs off I noticed the handbrake retaining springs x2 were broke.
You may not believe this but;
1. If you replace the rear handbrake shoes...full kit is around £29, this however wont include the springs that I need.
2. To purchase these 2 little springs porsche want £39.60 not including delivery.
How on earth does this make sense!!!!
I dont think I have any choice and will now have to drive 30 mile round trip and pay the ridiculous price if I want to finish the job tomorrow.
Oh well, moan over ARRRRGGGGGHHHH!

Found out springs for the boxster are £5. Does anyone know the difference as they only hold the shoes to the back plate. Surely they must be the same?

Went to porsche sutton coldfield today to look into springs. Boxster ones were 5mm shorter. However, really nice guy who served me said the price looked a bit excessive and reduced them another £10. Not use to that type of service but very welcome. Even got a nice cup of coffee. After freeing up a seized ratchet on the adjuster, rear discs and pads now in place.
Next job, both mufflers.

Bumper removal is very easy. Im not a mechanic but am always up for some diy if it costs less.
If you type in 'Porsche 996 front bumper removal' into you tube you will get a good video that takes you through the process. I can now remove it in 15 minutes, done three times now.
Its worth looking through the video a couple of times for confidence. When removing plastic plugs make sure you coat with wd40 first as it makes the job much easier.
Good luck
