Handbrake.....

My handbrake has no purchase at all for the first inch or so of its travel ( completely floppy ) and then seems to work OK after that although in a very small ark.

Boring I know but is this the norm ? [8|]

Hi
Mine is quite odd - sometimes it doesn't seem to purchase at all and just swings up about 6 inches (usually with a loud noise) as if it's popped off the cable cam.
I then replace the lever back down again and usually it works fine!
Is this just me or is this a known fault?
Cheers
Rob

That symptom is supposed to be the effect of the self adjustment mechanism. I have yet to experience it on my own car.

YvesD, check with your OPC as there is a handbrake recall active for the 997.

Mine has been done, apparently an extra cable fixing is required to re-route cable?

Best of luck.

No handbrake recall but an outstanding recall to have PASM2 software updated !. So when were they going to let me know that then ?

Anyone else had it done ?

I haven't heard about that one before has anyone else? It doesn't affect my sports suspension but knowledge is always useful.
Over to you Robert!

Just checked with those in the know, it's specific chassis numbers, not all PASM cars, seems to be later rather than earlier cars... I can't get hold of a copy of the TSB just yet.

Intruiging,

I have asked the OPC for info on what its all about but no reply as yet. Suspension seems to be working fine to me but then I have no reference point to compare it too so lets see.
