handles and lock barrels, anybody clued up on them

Ok, the pull part of my external passenger door handle snapped (had been stiff for ages so not surprised. my own fault). I managed to get hold of a spare plain one (thanks Alasdair). So dismantled door tonight (bit of a pain but got it off ok, no damage. Anyway my handle is a script one so would like to keep it. Can I swap over the internals and pull part from spare handle to my script handle and have working one from two with the script external part and lock from mine and the trigger/pull part from the spare. The wee pin that trigger rotates on, can that be punched out and reused or is it threaded or something.
And how do you remove the lock from a handle, is it just the little screw on top and then pull. I have no key for spare handle so loathe just to stick in as will lose lock and scipt, plus it generally more tatty than my handle, do you actually need the key to remove the lock from handle or anything like that?. Any pointer welcome guys, thanks
 
Not sure about the trigger pull mate not done that one but yes the barrel can be removed by removing the screw on the back. Don't overtighten it though as IRRC it is a slot head and you may want to remove it in the future.

Depending on which bit has broken, you may be able to drive it out or you may need to drill out the trigger pivot, but that should not be a problem - Ive done it twice.
You do need the correct key to insert the lock into the handle.
I'm assuming the replacement is the same hand.

Its the same side so no prob there. When you say you need the key to insert the lock do you mean whn inserting the replacement lock have the key in. In terms of taking it apart do you just undo the little screw and push it all out towards the the outside (key side)?
 
Don't know if this helps any but as the handles/locks are similar to MK1 Golf, I know you can 're-tumble' the locks. You can buy sets of the metal tabs/baldes in the lock that seat in to your key from a dealer and it's quite an easy job. What this means is if you end up with a non-original handle and lock, you can get it to work with your original key, so one key for all locks again.

I'm only assuming it will be the same for the Porsche - sorry if it's of no help![;)]
 
It is the same Andy, I had 3 keys for the 4 locks my car! I bought 2 more odd handles and made a complete set to match the ignition key and then got a blank and cut myself a second key.

Well only got back out to garage there briefly before I called it a night, cheers guys. Turns out my key not working that passenger handle anyway sp its either wrong key (cant remember using previously) or its siezed. Both my spare and script handle when i take the wee screw out they dont seem to want to come apart but I didnt really try any persuasion so will be going out the day to try get this job done, will let you know how i get one, cheers all, thanks for all advice, much appreciated. When I am on here later I'll either have sorted it or broken something trying. Going to start putting my bridge spoiler on today also, just not thought about side strips and centre, prob stay with the rubber side strips and male something up for the centre, will post later, thanks again
 
Had one a few years ago with a dodgy barrel, OPC supplied a new barrel for the handle at little cost, the drivers barrel cover on my 220 is a bit wonky and it is on the "to do" list.
