Handling differences - Coupe vs. Targa

Can anyone comment on the main differences they have seen or felt when taking a coupe on the track versus a targa?

Is pushing a targa to its limits a bad idea due to the comparative lack of strength?

A contentious one I' m sure...

I havent driven my targa on a track, but do drive it reasonably hard on the road.

A coupe will always be a more ' complete' car as this was the basic design from the start. building the targa and convertible (same body shell) came afterwards with additional strengthening.

When driving the targa with the roof section in , to me there is no discernable difference, but take of the roof panel, then I notice some skuttle shake when under heavy load.

As i have only owned the one targa, I' m assuming that this is the case with all, unless someone else knows differently!!!

Thanks Alan. Cant say I have noticed any difference roof on or off.

I see you are in Middlesex. Who do you get to look after your car.

Nice picture by the way, got any more?

I use No5 Garage in Acton, as I am a good weather user only, they do an oil service and road safety check one year and full service the next....also specialises in Bosche electronics...which is handy.

Great car Alan, looks fantastic. I think I will revise my favourite colour for a targa from black to grey (mines Black!). How do you clean your wheels to get them shining so much?

I am a daily driver and have been using No.5 too. I had a low voltage problem recently though which it took 6 hours of labour for them to sort out (£420). I would not have minded but the problem turned out to be what Peter diagnosed in the first place which was a bad alarm connection (cold solder). Sounded a lot of labour to confirm your initial diagnosis so am feeling a bit uncomfortable with them?? I need some bodywork doing soon so will probably go elsewhere.

No I have not been to a monthly meet, when is the next one?
