So far so good.

I have a small persistent leak from the sunroof on the passenger side which is a pain as my car lives outside. All the holes have been checked and okay. To improvise and to save buying a new seal at this time of year and go through the pain of fitting and bedding in I have taken this action. I have removed the sunroof panel and applied a liberal amount of vasaline to the rubber edges and then refitted. When refitted I opened the roof and added some more. I closed the roof and ran some more all around the seal and forced it in to the seal. Guess what, with the downpour we have going on a the moment the car is still dry inside. Bonza. I thought I would post this as it may help someone else.

Take care ... if the seal is rubber then I think the vaseline will cause it to rot, making the problem a lot worse in the long run.

You can get lubricants suitable for rubber; they may be a better bet (although the concept is a sound one - thanks Jason.)

Oli is right. Vaseline is a petroleum jelly and it will gradually eat into rubber [&o]

That's also why you shouldn't use it on condoms [:-]

Maybe KY would be a good substitute on the seals [:)]

I was told to use glycerine on the frameless seals on the Legacy. A few pence from the chemist, and possibly less embarrasing than bulk-buying KY Jelly. [sm=kiss.gif]

I'm surprised at you being embarrassed when buying KY jelly Paul, I thought the chemists in your area would have gotten used to you by now![:D][:D]

Cheers

I removed my roof and smeared clear silocan sealer on both corners as when there was a down pour rain would enter[]...so far so good!

This is exactly what I wanted to say, but thought that the word 'condom' would be deemed offensive - either by the swear-word filter (which doesn't allow even the word "s h a g" - it comes out as shag), or by the presently assembled company.

However, if it IS permitted, it seems a shame to waste the opportunity ...

CONDOM

There. Anyone offended? No, good!

As you were, chaps ...
