HARD SUSPENSION FOR POTHOLED LONDON !

Hi

I daily commute in London suburbs and have to cope with the atrocious road surface. The 98' Boxter I purchased was stated by the seller as having a sports suspension - although I cannot find any evidence of this in the paperwork. Does anyone know how I can simply reduce the sensitivity to the bumps without resorting to adjustible shocks etc ! I have 17" wheels and wondered if I changed to the 16" inch (with corresponding greater profile) whether this would make a noticeable difference. Otherwise I'll just carry on dodging (which I admit I do enjoy with such fantastic steering !).

16"s would be a good day-to-day compromise, the tyres are cheaper, and the higher sidewalls will absorb the bumps a bit better. You can pick them up VERY cheaply as everyone usually goes for the bigger wheels - purely for looks. You can keep the 17" for when you are going out of town [8D]

If you look at the sticker under the front boot, or in the front of the Guarantee and Maintenance booklet (the one with the service stamps in it) then if it says 030 among the options you have the 10mm lower sports suspension. There was a 30mm lower one offered on some very early cars, and it is too much for the Boxster really.

I have 17" wheels and Sports Suspension on my S - I love it, but I stay out of London where possible...
(You want to try driving in Leipzig with it though, or on Belgian backroads [:'(], then you find out what the Cayenne was made for [;)])

I think that the sports 030 on pre 2000 Boxsters was quite stiff. I have it on a 2003 and its fine in London.
I would recomend to change the shocks as fitting 16" wheels will reduce driver feel.
