Hard Tops

this may be a silly question but are all hard tops the same? eg would a hard top from a 2.5 fit a brand new boxster?

if you have a car that came with out a hard top do you need any extra bits inorder to fit a hard top?

I understand they are all the same.

To fit a hard top to a car that was not specified with one, you need to get the fixings for the spin-locks added.
I don' t think this is a problem though.

I don' t believe that LHD/RHD effects the roof in any form. The heated rear window connector might be on the other side.

Here is how to do it...

I have to agree (and as my first post here it would be rude not to!) but as ever with me putting the hardtop on the other day I managed to scratch it on a wall!!!

something else to have painted now![]

I have been having a few probs with my hardtop on a 2003 3.2s. The roof came with the car and has never really been right. Initially there was a whistling noise near the top front area which settled with some liberal dum dum putty application and a bit of fiddling. However it now seems that the seal has gone and it is letting in water and i guess i should probably get the seal redone. However on investigation this is to say the least pricey!!
Does anyone have any suggestions on where or how to go about this, it is definately too big a job for me and judging by my previous efforts i'd probably end up doing something else wrong!!
Cheers

If you don't fancy having a go yourself look for your nearest independant Porsche specialist.

The seals are not cheap but what sort of prices have you been given and where from?

JCB..

OPC quoted about £340 for the seal and then another 2-300 for the labour. Zentrum in Notts quoted around £520 odd for the job. It might be that it is a simple leak that maybe needs a bit of sealant but when i was driving in the rain i noted that there was water dripping down in the area where the hardtop locks in. Then when i was cleaning it i noticed water had been dripping onto the bonnet/boot switches so i guess there is a leak which communicates between them. Not really sure whats going on hence probably need expert help.
