hardback sports seat cover clamp!

Due to unprecedented demand for a fix to the ever unclipping leather cover of the hardback sports seats fitted to our models, here is the part number of the clamping "u" piece fitted to the cover in various places to retain it. I suggest that another 8 or so are ordered for each seat to supplement the six (three each side) that the factory fits to the seats when new. And you can thank the 993 tuning tips attendees for asking the question!!
Porsche part no 999 507 526 01 clamp, price (guess) about 15 pence each plus the vat!
best regards Cj

I've had a look and can see these metal clips on my seats. There are about 5 side on there at the moment. One question though, can they just be fitted where there are already plastic teeth present? Looking closely it seems there are cut outs for these clips where they are fitted presently?

please send or post a picture of the edge of the fabric/leather cover showing the rubber edge with a clip attached and either side of the area for clarity.

regards Cj

This is the best I could do in the confines of the garage.

I was rather thinking when it was removed from the recess!!, but dont worry i will go out and have a look at mine ,I am of the opinion that you can fit the clamps along the rubber anywhere you like but i'll just check...........................................................

Well I didn't fancy pulling the seat apart!

You can see there is a cut out with no plastic teeth where the metal fastener is though.

After removing the leather facing from the hardback seat back, it's clear that the profile of the rubberised edging is uniform along it's entire length,So as far as i am concerned you can fit the clamps anywhere you like and as many as you want.
Feel free to experiment with quantity and placing of the clamps , Although i have suggested extra clamps as a fix , I haven't had to resort to this as my facings do not come out on their own, ever !! And no customer has ever asked for a cure to their covers coming away to actually put it to the test, But i see no reason why it will not cure the problem.

Great post, many thanks. It takes an age for the clips on my seats to come out, but I'll still fit a set.

As there are two part numbers on the thread, would it be possible to reconfirm the correct part number as I don't want to order the wrong ones?
