Can you adjust the hardtop on a 986 boxster?, the gap at the rear looked quite wide or is that how they are ?

There is a small amount of adjustment and the gap does look big normally but it should be filled by the seal.

There is a gap all round, about half an inch from recollection. Remember that the seal is actually an inch inboard of the outer edge of the hardtop 'base' . Provide the seal is clamped then i wouldn;t start playing too much with the adjusters.

..actually it doesn't ...

I picked up the car to day and the passenger side rear of the hardtop has a slightly bigger gap, the drivers side looks spot on. I tried removing it and pushing it down on the passenger side to see if it sits down better but it does'nt.[:(]

I think a trip to a specialist to make a slight adjustment is called for ..[;)]

Sounds like the pivot pin lock may not be fitted correctly - that's the bit where the latching lever that is on the hardtop fits into. I can't see that there is any adjustment on the latching lever itself.

Is the hardtop straight i.e. not distorted?

Well I went to my local Porsche Dealer and the head of servicing said basically that this is a known problem although not common and that he has seen this before, a simple adjustment is all that is required. [:D]

He cheekly then said that he would do it FOC if I booked my car in for a service which it is in need of. I'm still not sure which service is needed so i'll be down there again tommorow.

..managed to blag a free key ring too ....:ROFLMAO:
