Hardtop Storage

Hi everyone, this is my first post as the proud owner of a 996 "4" Cabriolet. Drove home in it yesterday and wow what a car !. Compared to my 968 Cab. its a revelation. The sunny weather meant I took the hardtop off straight away and its proped up in the garage at the moment. The question is - whats the best way to store the hardtop ? Its got to stay in the garage and I'm trying to think of a way of suspending it from the ceiling, (or if that fails making up a support rack to go on the wall). I tried a search on the forum and didnt come up with anything useful. Someone out there must have found the ideal solution to this problem by now (without spending lots of money). So over to you, your suggestions would be much appreciated.
Regards Wills.

I shopped around last year and bought one from this company.

You need help getting it on the wall (you need help to remove the top from the car anyway) but it does the job very well and at £120 is well priced.

Get your priorities right! Picked mine up yesterday and took the top off as soobn as wegot back.

Safely stored on the dining room table.

We'll be eating in the kitchen or garden from now on.

What did you do with your 968 cab? I'm half heartedly looking for a tip cab, thought briefly about a 996 but have decided I want a 968. Only one I've found so far is in Taunton and has linen leather interior, which looks a bit hairdresser to me. Might look at it tomorrow as we're having the weekend down that way!

Hi Chrishazle, (and later - Tempers)

I part exchanged my 968 Tip Cab at Shirleys in Meriden. Its a great car, metallic black with light grey leather inside, 100350 miles, MO30 roll bars, hangers and springs, new belts all round and new engine mounts in October last year. Serviced and looked after by EMC in Birmingham for past 2 years and everything worked. I had it for 4 years and fancied a change. It needed a new exhaust and Cat, and there were 6 very small dents in the front of the bonnet where some lager cans fell on it in the garage, (cant see them unless you know where to look) but that was about it apart from a bit of seat wear on the drivers side.
If you get a Cab and need any extras, let me know, I've got all sorts of hard to get stuff in the garage waiting for the next boot sale at Cornbury House.

Hi Tempers,
thanks for the info I'll give them a try.

Regards
Wills

I'm trying to think of a way of suspending it from the ceiling,

I have this proper lifter which I don't need now as when I bought the 997, I didn't go fo a hardtop

I am looking for £100 for it.

It is still in situ in the Garage and can be demonstrated before removal.

I have an Easy Hoist electrically controlled unit which is in excellent condition for 996/7 cabs. I am looking for £350. It is easy to use and with a control pad on a long line is as the name applies very easy to fit/remove the hard top by one person. It is fiited in my garage and can be demonstrated but for some years I have not had a hardtop. Email me if you are interested.

Thanks for the welcome Richard. I must say I'm thrilled with the 996 Cab. My buddies in the 968 and 993 sections (I was about to buy a 993 targa but then I had a go in the 996) think I'm mad, but there is a world of a difference in the feel (and freedom from squeaks and rattles!!) of these cars.
Thanks also to TonyM and JohnathanW. Richard sent me a couple of links which I'm following up. I'll be in touch if I'm not sorted.
Regards
Wills
