The Club's Speed Championship will be at Harewood Hill Climb on Sunday 6th. There will be a full program so plenty of other classes to see too.

We have our own parking area next to the pits and discounted entry. Pay on the day and gates should be open from 9.00am.

Hi
I looked at the map ,
It looks difficult to get there from Grassington because of the BIKE RACE lots of roads closed .
Plus there will no doubt be hoards cyclists and traffic associated with it .
I am planning to give it a go though .

Yes the Tour will cause problems. I was planning on going after watching the tour go past our house, but sadly sisters 40th birthday has got in the way and our street and all surrounding streets are closed from 7pm the night before until mid afternoon. I am not sure how we would get out.

Quote from the Harewood House site re the Festival of Cycling

"8.00am "" 11.00pm: Harewood Gates & General Car Parks Open
There will be no road closures in place on Sunday 6 July that will affect your approach to Harewood. So it should be very straightforward".

Anyone else got any better info. - will be approaching from A1.

The official T. de F. so called layered map is worse than useless when I have tried to use it this morning.

Andrew

I spoke to Harewood Hill climb about this, and their main problem is Saturday as the route goes through Harewood, but the roads around them will open and fine on Sunday as the route heads out of York down the A59 to Harrogate.

I hear what is being said (and the official line currently is to play congestion down regardless of the event) but the issue is the amount of traffic and flow once the roads are open - if an average workday commute is anything to go by then it will be frustrating to say the least!. A small accident at Harewood Bridge today backed traffic up to Pannal and Leeds Grammar School in both directions.

The emergency services are planning for an extra 100,000 people in Harrogate and 300,000 over the Yorkshire stages.

I'm hoping to make it, although this means crossing the A59 at the A1 Harrogate turn off. Could be a bad idea !

Regards
