Harness

Hi all, I'm getting a Brey Krause harness bar for trackday use, just need to get a set of 4 or 5 point harness to go with it. Any suggestion? What harness does the Clubsport have?

Mick, looks about right.......thing is I will probably take the original Scroths out and box them.
Personally I think the 3" SABELT is more comfortable and better kit. They are certainly easier to adjust!

I wouldn't worry too much about originality, it's not as if you are going to weld in a full Matter 003 cage, is it? [;)]

Not too worried about originality here at all, it's not exactly original with a BreyKrause bar anyway as you said.[;)] Just don't want to end up getting one that looks too out of place, as I know b#gger all about harness. I'll have a search for the 3" Sabelt ones now. What do you think about 6-point vs 4 point? not sure about some straps squeezing the crown jewels! can't be comfortable![&:]

Its nothing to do with being comfortable , if u reckon u need a harness, 6 point stops ur crown jewels ending up on the pedals!! Absolutely no reason why Sabelt or Shroth should nt be perfectly comfortable, both OE options and ur car has mountings under drivers seat for all u need ....................if u have concerns abt drilling carpet on rear shelf then use the bar , i personally always thought the eyes looked quite sutable ..........only other thing is whether thers a hole in ur seat for crotch strap or if u would have to come all the way round? SAFETY IS WHAT ITS AL ABT................

Apparently the advantage of 6 point is that they prevent "submarining" as in you slide down when a braking or other force is applied on them, of course another advantage is that if you take a young lady out in the car, you have to ensure that the 6 point is correctly fastened or the car will not start..allegedly of course [;)]

ORIGINAL: clubsport

mmmm 6 point harness it is then![:D]

I'm having the SPG soon, do I need the optional bar on the bracket, or does the car have some kind of mounting points for the eyes already? (bear in mind it's the dentist model and not the hairy chest LW model)

Hard to say, to be fair...dunno which bar you are getting........some put eyes in the pre drilled mounts on the rear shelf, I assume the BK bar will fit on rear seat belt points?.....with respect to the additional 2 front mounts for the crotch strap (as it were) these have to be drilled into the floor, rather than mounted to the seat frame.

There is a detailed thread on rennlist 993 forum with piccys currently, where someone is fitting harneses and front mounts, I would suggest a look over there would be helpful, plus they seem to fit Brey Kraus bars also.

Cheers Paul, will look up Rennlist when I get home.

I've already bought the 2nd hand Brey Krause Bar (the one that looks like a scafolding) from another PCGB member here. I was talking about the crotch straps. At the moment there's a cross bar on the seat bracket (came with the seats I bought) for the crotch straps, if there's not already mounting holes on the floor then I'll probably use the same thing for my SPG. Don't fancy drilling holes on the car if I can help it.

How is the crotch strap mounted as factory option?
