Harnesses, booster seats and the law

Folks,

I'm trying to understand when I can put my 3year old legally and safely in the front of the RS. So I understand that for a child over 3, they can sit in the front so long as the correct seat restraint is used. For a child over 15kg (Which he is), he needs a simple booster seat.

Which all sounds good, but does anyone know if I can then restrain the booster seat and him with a 6point harness?

Just wandered if anyone had experience of this?

This would allow me to take my son out on car days (where I'm not drving) in the RS, otherwise I have to take the family car.

regards

hugh

Poor little lad ! Just gone through all that pain to get his first teeth, and his so-called loving Pa intends to shake 'em all out.

The answer could be within this lot, http://www.childcarseats.org.uk/law/
Thanks, I read that site and a few others prior to posting, they dont mention harnesses though, just standard 3 point belts.

And for the rest of you...[:D].... He can wear ear plugs, in fact we can have the intercom on , he'll love it at least on the odd occasion. I'm not planning on taking him to nursery everyday in it!!! [:D]

At three he should still be in a full seat. Booster only seats are from 6-7 year olds.

I have rested on the my sons full seat on the bolsters of my Cobra Suzukas, fed the harnesses through the child seat guides but the harnesses slide off his shoulders due the harness being fixed to lap belt with too wide spacing. Fine for an adult, too wide for a kid. He's now six and the harnesses still doesn't fit right in the child seat. Would be definitely too wide sat on a bolster and no shoulder guides bar the Cobras own. The harness will be all around his head as he will be too low in the seat.

Below I took him on a parade lap of Castle Combe in this way but would never go on the road like this. He was coming up to five then. Didn't go into that seat until he was four and is still in it at 6 1/2. Unlikely to go onto a booster until he's seven.

Hummm, I see what you mean - it doesnt look like its going to work does it. :-( I think he might have to wait a few more years then.

Now the belts in the caterham are lot lower, and it doesnt have a passenger seat so I could make foam seat that sat him higher and.........Just kidding.

Thankfully I left the 3 point belts in the car which work far better than the Schroths for him, and so on occasion the boy gets to be driven in a 'spirited' way. Given the choice he prefers the 924 turbo versus the more comfortable 5 Series with rear TV screen!! [:D]

No 3point belts in an NGT unfortunately. So I'm a bit stuck.

I'm sure I saw a lwt for sale a while ago, that had rear seats and a folding 959 seat on the pass side as original fittment from the factory. I can really see the sense of that car now.
