Harrogate weekend - 9/10 Sept 2005.

Hi Everyone.

Andy Mac has posted a message on the forum re the Harrogate weekend and I share his concerns! Andy and Lynne will be joining me and Maggie together with four other couples on what will be a great weekend. I am surprised however that there is nothing at all advertised in the Porsche Post either in the Region 8 slot, which I don't think has been written for 3 months or the diary dates at the back of the magazine. So if there are any folk out there wanting a really good weekend break with like minded Porsche nuts, come along. All you need to do is contact the Majestic Hotel Harrogate to book your reservation and email me.
I will then email the routes to you.

Cheers

just booked a room. they only have twin rooms left at the price they quoted you. if you want a double its now £170DBB[&o] as its a delux room

details of the hotel can be forund at www.paramount-hotels.co.uk/majestic and to book call 01423 700300 in office hours

We were interested in joining you untill we were quoted the price!
[]
Did you not organise a group rate?

Bookings via www. are approx £40 p.n. less on various sites by the way.

Group rates only work when you can get groups to COMMIT to come. That's always the tricky bit with PCGB folks (amongst others) - everybody is interested but they won't put their money up front - in case......?[]

So you get the normal price.

But it is for dinner, bed & breakfast, so it's not too bad.

And it will be fun![8D]

Go on....try it!

I understand that there are now 8 couples booked in for this week-end (theres still room for more) so it should be great fun. im looking foreward to it.

Robin has sent me three diffrent route plans which can be run as individual runs or strung togeather with stops for breaks/food the idea is we decide on the day what we are doing. and some may want to do less than others. routes look good so im going for the driving.

theres a nice pool at the hotel [;)]

So no cruise out to a nice sunday lunch spot before departure???[]
The event is Saturday only then..mmmmm[&:]

to be honest i don't actually know if there are any plans for the sunday. if theres not i think Larry and i will head to the Yorkshire sculpture park for a wonder about in the sun then a nice lunch in their wonderful resturant.

There should be fun to be had Friday and Saturday following three different routes. Some members wish to spend the majority of the Friday in Harrogate, a beautiful town in its own right. York is nearby too. Dinner has been booked 8 for 8.30pm both nights.
Nothing has been planned for Sunday yet. Thought all those attending might suggest ideas and we plump for the best.
The weekend is looking good.

See you there

If anyone is looking for a cheaper alternative to the Majestic, I can recomend the Parnas Hotel. www.parnashotel.co.uk

Christine and Cliff great people, its one of the nicest B&Bs in Harrogate. No need for evening meals as there are plenty of good resturants nearby, not far from the Majastic and closer to the town centre.

If you are in Harrogate you must try Bettys for lunch or afternoon tea - www.bettysandtaylors.co.uk.

If you're interested, gmund cars is really worth a visit & they are in Knaresborough only about
10 mins from Harrogate.
http://www.gmundcars.com/
They open on Sat morning too I think & usually have a superb collection of rare/interesting Porsche,
mainly 911's for sale.
I often pop in for a look when I'm passing.
(No affiliation etc.)

Hope you all enjoy Harrogate.........we like it [:)]

whoohoo not long now im looking forward to some great company and good driving.

we will be popping into Zentrum in Nottingham on the way up to get the after run in service on the 944s engine done so hopefully we'll be given the all clear to really start enjoying the car. can't think of a better place to try it out than Yorkshire [8D]

Hi Helen,

Margaret and me are really looking forward to the weekend?
I have checked with the Majestic Hotel. A table for 14 has been reserved both nights, 8 for 8.30pm. The car parking area reserved for the cars is on the right side of the car park, coned off for us!

One idea I have for Sunday is a leisurely breakfast followed by a scenic trip to Fulford, York, the designer outlet centre. For a bit of retail therapy followed by a spot of lunch.
Will discuss Friday/Saturday with you all.

See you there

Don't go to the retail park, they are all over the country selling all the same stuff.

Why not have a wander around York its self, sepecially the Shambles, loads of small shops, and a choice of 2 Betty's
