Hartech LMP

Hiya all. Hartech who I bought the car off and seem excellant offer a unique Lifetime Maintenance Plan which the customer pays a set fee by standing order about £65 per month for an S2 ( 12k per annum ) and they guarantee to pay all servicing costs parts and labour, annual MOT Test, wear and tear parts and labour for Brakes, Water Pumps , Belts etc and any other labour costs in the future you just pay for the parts. The only exclusions are other normal wear and tear eg Tyres, electrical and bodywork.

Being new to Porsche ownership and being mechanically inept I have no idea of costs of major work and think with my car having 127k on the clock it sounds like a good idea, Ive worked on the principle of Brakes - Pads and Discs needing replacing every 2 years ( 24k ) is that reasonable ? - I do brake hard mainly round town driving, and if so about £25 per month is ' insurance money ' with sounds pretty dam reasonable.

Sorry to go on but anybodys opinion on whether its worth it or not would be appreciated.

[;)]

Cheers
Chris

£65 sound pretty good to me. I assume that they are using all Porsche parts?

Belts and water pump can be about £1000 to get done and that every 4 years added to that MOT and other work every year, i would be surprised if you can maintain a 944 for less then £50 a month.

Hartech get a very good name. If you can afford £65 per month then i would go for it.

[;)] Thanks for that, yep its all genuine Porsche Parts and does seem decent value for money, got the first 3 months upon purchasing the car, had it about 7 now, obviously Hartech want to give the car the once over again to make sure the thing is not about to implode or fall apart !!.

I would double check what that includes. I think I read on their website (which is down just now [8|] ) that this scheme does NOT include the parts, just their labour. It is a pretty good safety net if you are unsure of your car, and it puts the onus on them to keep it running well. If it does include parts then that is an excellent deal

[;)] Morning Paul, yeah it includes parts for the servicing and parts like brakes, water pumps, belts etc and labour for anything else but not the parts beyond those, i like the idea that it keeps the emphasis on them to keep the car in good condition and being a novice think Ill give it a go and see how it pans out.

Slightly fortunate to have the car in one piece this morning, Nova Boy tried a great move ! at about 60 mph in a 30 , god knows how he didnt wipe me out , 1 life down for the 944 !! [;)]

Just got back from Hartech having joined the scheme . Does inspire you with confidence when 4 of the cars in the workshop where 944's. Got a blue S2 in for some work, lovely looking motor .

So was the 993 Carerra in Silver and the 968 Club in Blue but the 944 is just great.

Good news Chris, can you ask them if they'll relocate to Northants [;)]

Most of the 968 boys on here and on www.968uk.com seem to have started using Hartech, after a few scare stories re other independants. Hartech do have a very very good reputation

[:D] Hiya Paul, glad to have an independent like Hartech with 30 mins even if it is in Bolton ( sorry footie thing ! ) , had a brief chat with Barry their today, blame him for me catching the Porsche bug.

Ps you've got better weather than us , so give us something !

No i think they should change there name to McHartech and come North of the border. Somewhere around the south side of Glasgow would be nice. [:D]

Hi Chris

Are you still happy with Hartech? I'm hopefully buying a 993 next week and am planning on using these guys.

The LMP sounds like a great idea. The car I'm hoping to buy was serviced 1200 miles ago but I am considering having the Hartech C service done straight away and getting it on the LMP. They quote £65+VAT per month for the 993 so I suppose at £900 a year it's not cheap but will give me 2 services and the MOT, only other costs then are parts for any unexpected costs. I like the idea though that if they recomend something needs replacing you can probably be sure it does because they are picking up the labour bill.

As you mentioned, sounds like a good insurance policy to me, certainly better than a warranty that can be wriggled out of.

I had an RAC warranty on my wife's Merc, the single wiper stopped working properly, the motor still worked and that was the only bit covered under the warranty, it was the mechanism that moved the single wiper in and out that failed - it always does on these cars.

So far I have found Hartech - professional, knowledgeable and busy which can only be a good sign. The LMP works fine for me but I can see why its not everybodys cup of tea as you are paying a ' little extra ' for that insurance element . Barry and Grant really do know there Porsche's and the LMP works for both parties with Hartech having a monthly cash flow from their regular customers and guaranteed service/repair work and with you the customer having peace of mind that its in both parties interest to have you car mainted properly.

Dave - surely you're car hasnt be in for 8 months [:D]. Im in Blackpool/Fylde Coast quite a bit as my ex lives up there and Im sure Ive seen you're car . The Oulton Park 968 gathering sounds great but unfortunately Im working that weekend but meeting up would be good .
