Hi,
I'm thinking of fitting some muffler bypass pipes to my 3.4 996 but would like to hear someones car with these fitted before I go for the plunge. I am on the Wirral, Merseyside, is there anyone with these fitted in Wirral, Liverpool North Wales ?

Thanks...............Adam

Hi Adam,

I have muffler bypasses on my car - they are certainly not for the light hearted!

Pros:
- Around a 10bhp + 10ft/lb increase in power and torque.
- Minus 50lbs from the furthest rear point of the car.
- Better throttle response.
- Incredible sound*.
- A few nice pops and burbles.

Cons:
- Unbearable resonance at 2 - 3000rpm.
- Waking your neighbors for early starts.

They are a must have if you use your car purely for weekend thrills, and a no-go if you use it for anything else. I'm nowhere near North Wales being down in South-London, hence I cannot give you a sound example.

*When you boot it the car sounds surprisingly simular to this.

Hope this helps

Paul

Thanks for the reply (and the link) Paul, I used to have a tuscan myself about 4 years ago and miss the rawness. I'm really not sure what to do as I do only use the car on nice days, but also take it to work in the summer when the weather is nice, but I work shift and so I leave at 6am from a quiet neighbour hood. Not good for neighbour hood relations. I really don't know what to do, the other options is keeping the back box's with the bypass pipe built in similar to the PSE. The ideal would be the PSE with the solenoid but I just can't justify the cost.

Thanks again for the post and is there anyone out there in the North west ?

Thanks.....................Adam
