Has anyone here fitted bonnet pin kit?

Just wondering if anyone has fitted them on a 944 and where would be the best place..just ordered a pair as my bonnet is a bit out of shape after the "pop up incident"..so i've decided to go with them til i get my hands on a decent bonnet and til it's sprayed the same colour as my car(i'd say that a goldish bonnet on a Sapphire car would remind me an Impreza..)

That's what i've ordered..

They don't look terribly pedestrian friendly []
Mate of mine used those on an old mini, he welded triangular mounts for the bolt to fix to at each corner of the bonnet opening. Seems like a lot of work for a temorary fix to me.
I'd be interested to know how much a replacement bonnet & paint costs though, mine's kinked & I've been considering replacing it.

Like i've said before..it's always practical to have a donor car..and i've got one[8D]..i'm not 100% sure but i guess the Turbo/S2 bonnet is a bit bigger than early cars..
As of paintwork..where are you based? I live in Barnsley(S.Yorks) and my neighbour is a professional painter..so i'm sure that if you can find a bonnet he can come up with a comprehensive price painting it(or the whole car)..pm for more details if you're interested..

I'll bear that in mind, thanks [:D]

I think there are differences in how they are mounted on 924s & early 944s vs later 944s but the bonnet is the same size for all 924/944 variants. On mine it's one of thise jobs on my to-do list that is low priority, so far there have always been other, more pressing jobs to do.

If I were in your position I think I'd skip the bonnet pins & go straight to replacing the bonnet for now, getting it painted is less important than having a working one [;)]

Oh well..i've already started and nearly half way by now..it's not that much of a hard job after all - removed the rubber bushes that keep the bonnet from rattling(the lower pair)..fitted some spare radiator top extensions that hold the rubber bushes..so all i have to do now is to line up the bonnet and drill a few holes..

I'll keep you in mind when i'll get another 944 for spares..[;)]

Only the washer jets are different in size. I think maybe early 924 bonnets used a prop rather than gas struts, but otherwise all are identical.

At least i know without trying now that they're all the same..so i can take the one off my donor and start preping it..although..pre 85 cars have different hinges - i tried to fit 2 sets of them on(1st set from 82 944 and 2nd from 82 944)..the bonnet was way too close to windscreen and didn't line up in any way..i'd say that 85 is a really complicated year - i've got 2 944s..both 1st registered 85..the 1st one is 85 model year and has the old type dash..but the new type bonnet hinges(same as my other one which is 86 model year and oval dash)..so if you have 84 or 86 i'm pretty sure that you don't have much trouble finding the right bits..as of me..i'm just somewhere in between(like always)..so i've got a lot of thinking to do..[8|]..but i don't really mind..if it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger..

I have a spare bonnet (and doors) in Guards Red cluttering up my shed - keep on meaning to put it on ebay - but I doubt it would sell. They just don't seem to need replacing. If you wanted it, you could have it![8D]

Good to meet up with you Phil, I enjoyed the chat [:D]

Just in case anyone was wondering, you can fit a bonnet in the boot [;)]

That is impressive - I couldn't fit one in a 5 series estate and I had to strap it to roof bars.
