Hatch lock not opening

I've got a problem with the rear hatch lock, when i turn it with the key it doesn't open the hatch, nor can i hear the motor turning, but the button inside works fine. Any one had this problem?

I am going to guess that it is the microswitch on the bootlock that has either failed or been knocked out of position.

If you open the boot from the interiorbutton and then peel away the carpet and look at the mechanism you will notice a small cam that touches a microswitch as you turn the key. You can press the switch yourself to see if it turns the motor. Hopefully it has just moved out of position so that the cam does not touch it when you twist the key.

I had exactly the same problem when I bought the car.
Do as Diver explained as it is probably a dirty contact. It should be very easy to remedy.
Gave mine a quick clean and it worked to my delight as I had left it for a couple of months. How much easier it suddenly was to do to the shopping in.

Lovely Jubly , thank you guys, that my DIY for the weekend sorted as well as replacing the sunroof gears and getting the balance shafts looked at!
