Have an odd noise upon starting the 930

Hello,

I have a niggly noise which bugs me upon starting the 930 which I dont think is a major issue. Anyone help me determine what this noise is please?

Ok, when I go to start the car the starter motor spins up fine starts the engine. After the engine starts a noise can be heard for about 3 or 4 seconds (sometimes less). The noise sounds like the same noise you get when your starter motor is not disengaging properly, You know the kind of sqeal I mean I'm sure. Anyway, I thought it was the starter motor causing the noise so I got hold of a new one and had it put on the car. Thinking my troubles were over I collected the car to find the car has the same noise.

What could this be? Is is possibly a fuel pump? It definately sounds like a motor of some kind but only found upon startup. If the car has been running and then stopped and restarted it doesnt always happen. It can last up to 3 or 4 seconds as I said but sometimes not at all.

I might have to get a recording of it and try and post it on here some how if nobody can identify it!

Just a guess but could it be your alternator/fan belt slipping when it's cold then finding grip after a few seconds - or is it not that kind of squeal?

Without hearing it, I'd tend to go along with belt slippage...... at least you know it's not the water pump!
Re starter motor not disengaging correctly. As I recollect it just made a horrible grinding noise as bits of metal intermittently meshed and then didn't - but not a squeal to be heard.
