Have you owned G412 UVU?

Hello all! I have recently (three weeks ago) bought a 1990 S2, and noticed that it has a Porsche Club GB sticker in the window, so wonder if any of the five previous owners read this forum? So far the problems I have come across are:
The right hand arm from the glove box is missing, meaning that the glove box tends to flop open rather than stopping at the horizontal (is it possible to replace/fix this?);
When I remove the roof, I have the devil's own job getting it back into place and I'm not sure I've got it in right now (it now seems slightly lop-sided when raised);
The light switch seems to rotate freely sometimes without switching lights;
err, thats it!
For all others, here is a piccie of the new P&J:

Oh no i wrote off that car (Red) 2 years!

Only joking haha, anyway glove box arm can be purchased from www.porscheshop.co.uk
probably need new light switch to.
As for the sunroof being lobsided i'd say that one of those arm lifters has slipped down a couple of teeth. What happened to mine was that the little gears inside that lift and drop the roof stripped, and the lifters just stayed down. Where abouts in the country are you? Theres loads of specialists out there i can recomend.

Great looking S2, nice wheels.

Very amusing that one about you having written it off! I have to admit I thought 'Oh sh*t!' for a mo there!
I'm in Guisborough, in the North East, near Middlesbrough.

Was it a difficult job to replace the gears driving the sunroof?
Cheers,

Graham

Hi Graham,
Yes it was very, because the cable stripped both gears and ended up in the boot under the battery, the roof lining across the back had to come off along with the rear carpet that coverd the motor. I took it to JZ Machtech 07000 100 911 and they fixed it, the gears cost £10 from www.porscheshop.co.uk.

When you opperate the roof, does it slip and make a clicking sound? Not sure what specailist is in Middlesbrough, but i'm sure someone here could tell you.

I have a similar sort of thing with the rear of my electric seat one of the side does not always come up and makes a clicking sound, could it be a similar operation to that of the sunroof, with one of the plastic gears gone,?

Hi Graham
I've had this problem with my car, and managed to fix it. The link Andriko posted above is really helpfull and explains how the whole system works. On a nice day put the back seats down flat and lye on your back and take the offending gear boxes to bits! once you have them open its quite easy to spot what the problem is. My problem was the friction clutch on the mechanism had siezed thus striping the gears very efficiently. My advice is to read the clarkes garage info and get stuck in.

nearest specialist to Middlesbrough might be Specialist Cars in Malton. They have a website, which you would find on a google search
