We all sometimes forget just how great these cars are and its only when you sit back and value them you see what machines they are. Actually, see you all later...going for a drive!!!!!!

I think all the councils ran out of salt at the first sign of snow, when they realized they didn't have enough salt to do all the roads once in their respective areas.
Recent years the councils have cut back on stores of salt and machines, as " we've not had so much bad weather" ie they need to save money.

Haven't driven mine since the 997 christmas dinner weekend in Telford (13th Dec) and judging by the white stuff outside probably won't for at least another couple of weeks so I think I'll call the wasted road tax my contribution to the national debt !!

spent too many years with classic porsches that i dare not drive when there is any chance of steel eating salt on the roads let alone ice and snow. Now i have a 997 i don't have to worry and i am thoroughly enjoying driving it what ever the weather [8D]

Why don't we start a competition for the dirtiest car. Taken in Northumberland, one of the best driver's I've had in the 911 a day after a blizzard!
i'll have to search for one...

Hey Helen!! I remember you from a certain boxter forum I remember seeing your collection of beutiful 911's. Have you still got them?
Are the newer better equipped for salt on the roads? I also now have a 997 C4s but I'm a little reluctant to take it out because of the salt, but then think it's a waste of money if it just sits there as a garage queen. Just how bad can it be? ...anyone?

Hi there. i no longer have my classic 911 (although i'm looking for something to buy, at the moment) but i do have a 356a . the trouble with the classic (pre 1973) cars is 1) they were not galvenised 2) they are worth alot of money with prices on the UP for good ones, its worth looking after them. 3) they are not brillant to drive (as everyday cars) in the dark and cold as the heating, lighting and ventilation isn't as good as the modern cars. []
the 997 1)i have no intentions of keeping for very long, 2)its going to loose money weather i use it or not,3)it can more than cope with almost anything the English weather can throw at it
