Hi Alan

Great idea.

I regret that I will be away that weekend, if you have to re-schedule for any reason I very hope that I could join in.

A number of people have told me that it is a great place to visit so I hope you enjoy it.

We've arranged a visit to the Haynes International Motor Museum, at Sparkford in Somerset for Saturday 26th September. If you've never been before, it's one of the world's foremost automobile collection with over 400 amazing cars and bikes from around the world. These include nostalgic classics of the 50s and 60s, glorious Bentleys and Rolls Royces to exciting super cars of today, like the Jaguar XJ220 and the Ferrari 360, so there's something for everyone.

As it's outside our region, we thought we'd combine the visit with a social run (of around 85 miles), assembling somewhere in the morning in the vicinity of Burford or Swindon to drive down to Sparkford.

The museum offers discounted admission and concessions, but we'll need a minimum of 15 people to qualify for the group rates. If you's like to join in, you'll need to let us know as soon as possible. For more details and to express an interest in joining in, please click here.

Thanks for letting us know Brian. At the moment, due to lack of interest, we're thinking of cancelling and re-scheduling this event for next Spring. We'll make that decision at the end of this week.

Indeed, I went there several years ago but am keen to see all the improvements. It's also a really good run down there...

Alan.

Steve, Further to your post we thought it would be best to get down to the museum in the morning, have a break in their cafe, and make a stop for a meal on the way back. I can think of a few good country pubs along the way (with decent food and large car parks). These are (in order of proximity to Sparkford): [link=http://www.bellandcrown.com/]The Bell and Crown at Zeals[/link] (12 miles - 15 mins) [link=http://www.the-georgeinn.co.uk/]The George Inn at Longbridge Deverill[/link] (21 miles - 30 mins) [link=http://dukebratton.cascadepubs.co.uk/]The Duke at Bratton[/link] (32 miles - 45 mins) [link=http://www.bargeinnseend.co.uk/]The Barge Inn at Seend[/link] (39 miles - 1 hour)

All have good reputations and reviews. Take a look and see what you think. We can always decide tomorrow.
