Head lamp unit

Evening all....

My OS head lamp went tonight. Can someone please tell me the best place to get a replacement and should I buy two so they match? I would normally call Bert's but too late.

Also any idea what I should pay.

cheers..FB

Bulb.....must have read the book wrong - I thought it was a full unit out and new one in replacement. By unit I mean lens as well, all carried in the pop up light. Is this just a bulb replacement - great if it is!!!

Cheers..FB

Frazer,

One of the best things about the 944 / 924 is that the good old 7" round headlights are used. Remove the trim and the lamp unit is held in by four screws. Light just drops into you hand. Easy peasy.

Cheers,

Edit to "break trim to find screws rusted solid or heads rounded off by previous owners. Light misses your hand and hits drive."

More the way things work for me.....[:'(]

I feel your pain, brother.

I, too, have been there.

You must have been reading the Haynes book of lies.
They are produced for the American market where they have to use sealed units. The European car have replaceable bulbs, available from any garage or motor shop.

I've always thought that the way the manual describes is the long way of changing a bulb. The easier way is to remove the four screws holding the lamp unit cover (not the trim but the painted cover) and you can then directly access the bulb. Or maybe that's what we're all talking about already! [8D]

Changed my bulbs recently and I would definitely agree with you that removing the covers is the easiest way to do the job, and it saves any problems with alignment/adjustment after. Agree to about the Haynes manual - it's not just Porsche that they are sadly lacking in. I got a CD manual off ebay for £2.99 and it's absolutely the bees knees.

Just noticed the reference to free manual downloads from 'Ricks site', could you let me know the address please??

Rick has some nice goodies for the 944.

Which help subsidise all the free work he does, so feel free to buy something whilst you're grabbing the freebies!

Just don't start browsing the pictures unless you have a LOT of free time! [:D][:D][:D]
